Abstract

The invention relates to an apparatus 1 for boosting a mains 2 water supply pressure to a consumer's water supply system 3. The apparatus comprises inlet 10 and outlet 16 conduits connectable to a conduit of the mains water supply system; a flow detector 15 to detect a flow of water which indicates that water is being drawn through the outlet conduit by the consumer's water supply system; a main conduit 19 connected between the inlet conduit and the outlet conduit and a pump 12. The pump operates when the flow detector detects the flow of water, to begin pumping water through the main conduit 19; and a bypass conduit 17 connected between the inlet conduit and the outlet conduit. Later embodiments relate to a method and a kit of parts comprising the apparatus.
