Abstract

A linear generator, generating and harvesting eco-friendly electricity via any magnitude of natural linear movement, comprises an oscillating movable permanent magnet assembly â Aâ movable relative to coils â Bâ , the coil mounting assembly incorporating a super capacitor â Câ for storing and discharging energy at a controlled rate over a specified period along with embedded electronics â Dâ to enable remote control programming on the fly to vary the power out-put by switching and selecting windings. The programming may be in response to signals from an infrared fob. The generator may be tubular or planar, the latter being suitable for stacking to form a power pack. The generator can be comfortably integrated within clothing or footwear or arranged to respond to vehicle braking or wave movement on boats. A minimum of 1800 mm of linear movement is proposed.

Description

DESCRIPTION DOCUMENT 1
Sustainable Energy Generator Charger The Sustainable Energy Generator Charger, developed in conjunction with Cranfield University is a linear generator of unique design at the forefront of world leading energy harvesting, containing only one moving component offering an efficient, flexible, adaptable and ergonomic design with embedded electronics for remote control and programming on the fly, creating a torque control varying the output of the generator in proportion to the physical effort exerted by the user, giving the added advantage of higher power output for greater effort. A super capacitor collects and stores the energy, and through a controlled discharge transfers the energy to the appliance.Energy can be harvested through any magnitude of linear motions.
The Sustainable Generator was conceived to alleviate the constant need for charging small electrical appliances usIng mains power and using or changing batteries giving the user a constant supply of usable power.
The Generator /Charger has two primary forms, the Tubular type (DIA 1) and the Planar type (lilA 2).
An explanation of how the generators function will to the described in conjunction with WAs I to 6.
The tubular type with dimensions of 120 mm x 25mm diameter (DIA 1) is compact, portable and lightweight enabling personnel to effectively deploy several at any one time, via holding, footwear and clothing integration (DIA 3 ITEM A), which captures and stores embedded energy generated from repeated 0 natural linear movements to be discharged to electrical Items during and or after LI) the harvesting process.
0 The Planar type (DIA 2) wIth dimensions of 180 mm x 68 mm x 20 mm being the larger is capable of higher output and consequently requires greater effort, although It can also be applied as the tubular type, it is more readily suitable for sizing and stacking for high power packs with wide ranging potential applications i.e. Vehicle regenerative braking 01A516 ITEM B, Boat wave energy lilA 4/6 ITEM C, Gymnasium exercisers. (DIA 3/6 ITEM A).
Vehicle power generation harvesting is created by the vehicle braking and acceleration also changing directions.
Power harvesting in boats is achieved by the rocking created by natural wave movements both back and forth and side ways.
Human power harvesting can be achieved by any linear motion created by natural movements he. walking by securing a generator to the shoe, leg, arm, holding or clothing integration where the generator is subject to a minimum of lSGcms (7 inches) linear movement.
Both types are consfructed with fixed coil (DIA 1+2 ITEM B) and moving permanent magnets (DIA 1+2 ITEM A) with embedded electronics (DIA 1+2 ITEM D) and the super capacitor storage unit (DAt 1+2 ITEM C)
DESCRIPTION DOCUMENT 2
Electricity is generated from the linear movements of the generator derived by the natural linear movements of the user, causing the movable centre core permanent magnet (armature 01% 1+2 ITEM A)) of the linear generator to slide to and fro through a static magnetic field created by the field windiugs (MA 1+2 ITEM B) creating EMF, this is collected by the super capacitor (NA 1+2 ITEM C), stored and discharge on demand to charge the appliance by means of a simple Jack plug and socket to a suitable adaptor.
Both generaton require a ininniinum of 180cm (7inchs) of linear movement to be fully effective.
The embedded electronics (DIA 1+2 ITEM D) enables the user to program and vary the output of the generator by switching and selecting additional windings of the field coils (DIA 1+2 ITEM B) which will increase or decrease the magnetic field resulting in varying the amount of energy required by the user to generate power this equates to more energy required to produce higher power out-put and lower energy for reduced power out-put.
The switching function Is programmed by an infrared fob to control with a push button item A DIA 6 to increase field windings and power out-put to decrease field windlngs and power out-put press push button ITEM B DIA 6 which intern reverts the generator back to factor settings. Co
