Abstract

A microphone docking station comprises a microphone holder 1.2 having a latch button 1.7 which interacts with microphone 1.1 so that when the microphone is slid from the holder 1.2 the latch button 1.7 is released triggering a rewinding mechanism and allowing cable flex 1.6 to unwind up to three metres in length. When the microphone 1.1 is slid back into the holder 1.2 the latch button 1.7 is pressed pulling down a rewind latch 1.8 and raising a spool spring vertically allowing the cable 1.6 to rewind into the docking station. The cable 1.6 is wrapped around a circular shaped internally placed polyamide spool moulding which is held in place by a spring cover plate. These internal mechanisms are further covered by a glass enforced casing 1.3 which sits on a coated enamel steel base 1.5 with an anti slip rubber suction underside.

Description

Patent Application Of Peter Goddard For Rewind Microphone Docking Station Title [1] Rewind Microphone Docking Station
Background of the Invention
[2] The present relation relates to a microphone docking station that is compatible with various games consoles and microphones and in particular is designed to have an integrated rewinding mechanism for the prevention of tangled cables and for storage purposes.
[3] Microphones that are attached to adjustable or retractable cabling are known in the art for user portability. Microphone holders that are capable of storing microphone cabling using an internal mechanism are also known in the art.
[4] For example, CN201282544 to Zhu discloses a device for adjusting a microphone holder in a remote control manner comprising a remote controller, a motor, a microphone holder and is characterized in a hollow-core tube that is mounted in the middle of a base. A guide tube is arranged in the hollow-core tube, a lifting lever is arranged in the guide tube and a rack and a worm are arranged on the lifting lever. The gear centre is arranged on the shaft of a stepping motor with an enclosure arranged outside of the motor. The microphone connecting rod is mounted at the upper end of the lifting lever and a microphone clip is arranged at the end of the microphone connecting rod.
[5] Furthermore, DE202006004808 to Schaefer discloses a microphone holder whereby the holder has a base including a suspension point at the centre, guiding barrels, fixed points, and holes for feeding a cable, where the guiding barrels are provided between the fixed points. The holes are provided in the centre such that conductors are connected to a microphone through the microphone holder. The fixed points for firmly attached microphone holders are fixed in an angular distance of 90 degree at the base.
[6] Furthermore, CN201044498 to Song et al discloses a microphone holder that can hold three microphones simultaneously, which is suitable for the needs of various performance situations. When three microphones are needed, the two auxiliary connecting rods and the main connecting rod are respectively inserted with microphone rods, and then microphones are arranged. In addition, because the auxiliary connecting rods are in threaded connection with the lateral bushing, the height and rotational angle of the microphone holder can be adjusted by adjusting the degree of the tightness of screw.
[7] Furthermore, KR20060076513 to Won et aldiscloses aholder of a condenser microphone including a body and a bottom portion. An outer surface of the condenser microphone is contacted with the body. The condenser microphone is formed in a cylindrical shape.
The body has the same inner shape as an outer shape of the condenser microphone. A bottom surface of the condenser microphone is contacted with the bottom portion. A rib is formed on an inner perimeter of the body and has elasticity. When the body is deformed by an outer force, the ring-like rib is attached to a side surface of the condenser microphone by an elastic force.
[8] Furthermore, 032009180656 to Benditt discloses a method and apparatus for holding a microphone is described where a support member containing either flexible legs or an elastomeric pad is compressed between an amplifier and a speaker cabinet to provide support for a microphone for the purpose of capturing the sound coming out of a speaker. Additionally, the same device may be used to mount a microphone on a combo-style amplifier by compressing the support member under the amplifier's handle.
Brief Summary and Advantages of the Invention
[9] The preceding demonstrates an essential need for a microphone docking station which integrates a retractable cable that can be stored within the device as well as the ability to hold various different types of microphone.
[10] It would be preferable for the microphone docking station to be able to hold all types of microphones including condenser and standard sized microphone devices.
[11] It would be preferable for the microphone docking station to comprise of two cable outlets, the microphone cable flex as well as a USB connecting member.
[12] It would be advantageous for the microphone docking station to have its integrated cable unwinding up to three metres in length for user portability.
[13] It would be preferable for the microphone docking station to be compatible with various games consoles via a connecting USB device attached from a cable outlet placed at the rear of the docking station.
[14] It would be preferable for the microphone docking station to be able to hold the microphone securely in place using its curved outer shape and plastic rubber strip securing the microphone to the device.
[15] It would be preferable for the microphone docking station to have a rewinding mechanism that operates internally by a latch releasing a spool spring when pressure is applied upon it by the microphone device itself.
[16] It would be advantageous for the microphone docking station to allow for the microphone to easily slide out of the holder for ease of use.
Brief Descriptions of the Drawings
[17] An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings [18] Figure 1 displays the rear view of the microphone docking station [19] Figure 2 displays the base view of the microphone docking station [20] Figure 3 displays the front isometric view of the microphone docking station [21] Figure 4 displays the side view of the microphone docking station with its internal section exposed [22] Figure 5 displays the front view of the microphone docking station [23] Figure 6 displays the side view of the microphone docking station with its side casing intact [24] Figure 7 displays the rear view of the microphone docking station [25] Figure 8 displays the top view of the microphone docking station [26] Figure 9 displays an exploded view of the microphone docking station with its internal components exposed
Detailed description of the Invention
[27) A microphone docking station comprising a latch button cover, button rim, microphone holder, microphone cable flex, rewind docking station, spool moulding, outer casing, spring cover plate, spool stopper with inner pivot, rewind latch, anti slipper base.
[28] The microphone (figure 1, 1.1) is stacked upon the docking device within the microphone holder (l.2)which contains a plastic rubber strip internally to secure the microphone in place as well as the curved exterior of the holder which overlaps the microphone.
[29) The microphone can be slid upwards out of the microphone holder (1.2) where the cable flex (figure 4 1.6) extends away from the docking device from the cable outlet (figure 5, 2.0) located beneath the microphone holder, unravelling itself up to three metres in length for user portability.
[30) Figure 3 displays the front of the docking station whereby the lower section will also comprise of a cable outlet, where a lead containing the USB connecting device which can be inserted into various games console USB ports for optimal compatibility.
[31] Figure 9 displays the latch button (1.7) encased by a latch button cover (2.1) which is inserted within the centre of the microphone holder (1.2) . When the microphone (1.1) is slid from downwards through the holder the pressure applied upon the latch button triggers off the rewinding mechanism.
[32] When the microphone is inserted within the holder, the pressure exerted upon the latch button (Figure 9, 1.7) also pulls down the polyamide rewind latch (1.8) causing the rubber coated spool stopper comprising of an internal polyamide pivot (1.9) to lift upwards releasing the spool spring. This will allow for the microphone cable flex (1.6) to rewind itself within the docking station so it is wrapped around the circular shaped internally placed polyamide spool moulding which is held in place by a spring cover plate.
[33] These mechanisms are all placed within the circular shaped docking station which comprises of an internal casing (1.4) that is encircled by a glass reinforced outer casing (1.3) that is also circular in shape. The casing is placed upon the curved edged rectangular shaped base (1.5) that is made from coated enamel steel. To hold the docking station firmly in place it has an anti slip rubber suction underside that is placed below the base.
