Abstract

The arrangement comprises a pillow 2 and a seat attachment means 6 which slips over the top of the headrest 1 and is secured by cords 3 and 4. The pillow 2 is horse-shoe shaped with tubular arms which, in use, extend around the neck and are connected under the chin with hook and loop tape 8, 11. Such tape 9 is also attached to the back of pillow 2, with another piece 7 attached to the seat attachment means 6. As the user sits back in the seat the pillow 2 and the seat attachment means 6 are connected. The pillow 2 may be formed from a washable, flame-retardant material, and may be inflatable. The seat attachment means 6 may be used as a bag for the storage of the pillow 2, or for carrying the pillow 2 over the shoulder by means of the cords 3, 4.

Description

A travel pillow This invention relates to a two part travel pillow.
When persons are travelling as passengers on planes, coaches, trains or even as passengers in motor vehicles, they often fall asleep or try to sleep and are often woken by there head falling forward or to the side.
This also applies to the sick and old in care homes.
To overcome this the present invention uses a two part system the first part attaches to the headrest and the second part when worn round the persons neck attaches to the first part when the person sits down and leans back.
The advantages are that the first part attaches to the seat quickly and when used with the travel pillow prevents the persons head from moving forward or to the side, Also you get a longer and more comfortable nap or sleep and when the two part travel pillow is packed away the first part is turned into a bag for the travel pillow by folding in half and by use of the cords is worn over the shoulder..
Examples of the invention will be described by referring to the accompanying drawings.
Figure 1 shows the two part travel pillow in use in the seated position.
Figure 2 Shows the front view of the part of the travel pillow that is attached to the seat headrest.
Figure 3 Shows the rear view of the part of the travel pillow that is attached to the seat headrest.
Figure 4 Shows the front view of the part of the travel pillow that attaches to the seat headrest without being attached to the seat.
Figure 5 Shows the rear view of the part of the travel pillow that attaches to the seat headrest without being attached to the seat.
Figure 6 Shows the bottom view of the travel pillow.
Figure 7 Shows the top view of the travel pillow.
Figure 8 Shows the side view of the travel pillow and the part that attaches to the seat without being attached to the seat.
Figure 9 Shows the part of the travel pillow that attaches to the seat adapted into a bag when folded.
A two part travel pillow as best shown in figure 1 and 2 and 9 the first part of the system 6 is made of a cloth fabric which is hemmed over at the top and bottom allowing one end of the cords or other means 3 and 4 to pass though the fabric, the fabric 6 has a matrix hook and loop fastener patch 7 attached to it.
The cords 3 and 4 as in figure 3 pass though a lock cord 5 or other means to secure the fabric 6 to the seat 1 the first part of the system 6 is secured to the seat by cord 4 which is looped onto the seat 1 first then the top part of the fabric 6 folds over the seat 1 the cord 3 goes round the top part of the seat 1 and the fabric 6 is adjusted to the position the person wants it and is then secured by use of the lock cords 5 or other means..
The fabric material 6 is made of a washable material and as in figure 9 is turned into a bag for canying the travel pillow when folded in half when turned into a bag the matrix and loop fasteners will be on the inside of the bag and the travel pillow attaches to the inside of the bag, the cords go over the shoulder and the bag will hang around the waist area of the person.
There are knots at the ends of the cords to stop the lock cords.
The second part of the system is the travel pillow as best shown in figure 6 and 7 the travel pillow 2 is of horse shoe shape and tubular and the arms of the travel pillow 2 are long enough to be able to fold over under a persons chin.
There is a matrix and loop fastener 11 or other means on the under side of the travel pillow 2 on the back of the travel pillow 2 there is a matrix and loop fastener 9 or other means.
As in figure 7 on the topside of the travel pillow there is a matrix loop fastener 8 When a person wears the travel pillow as in figure 1 they fold the antis of the travel pillow 2 over one and other which are then held in place by matrix and loop fastener 8 and 11 or other means.
The travel pillow 2 can be made from a inflatable material as in figure 6 and 7 and inflated by way of a valve 10 as in figure 6 and 7 the travel pillow 2 can be made from other non inflatable material and filled with a suitable filling material.
When a person is ready to take there seat as in figure 1 and 2 and 3 they put the first part of the travel pillow 6 onto the backrest and headrest of the seat 1 and tighten the cords 3 and 4 accordingly by use of lock cords S.the person then puts on the travel pillow 2 and secures it in place around there neck by use of matrix and loop fasteners 8 and 11 The person then sits down in there seat and leans back into the seat the travel pillow 2 is automatically attached 6 and 7 by matrix and loop fasteners 7 and 9 at the desired height of the person.
