Abstract

A self-supportive, collapsible mobile display stand unit comprises shelves 8 set at the front of the unit provide means for storing a variety of shoe types. Each shoe would be supported by means of an angled support bar 9, located at the back on each shelf, enabling the front of the shoe to rest at the front of the shelf. The display stand unit has a pair of front legs 4 and a pair of back legs 1, a number of shelves and a top shelf surface 2. The top shelf surface may be used to display small items such as perfume and the like. Open containers 5 fixed to the two back legs may provide storage for magazines and the like and hooks 7 situated around the display stand unit provide means to hang accessories such as necklaces and the like. Hinges located at the top of the two back support legs connect the two back legs to the front legs and enable the legs to close and open into the desired position.

Description

Display Stand Background: I identified the need for a free-standing and multi-functional display unit, as young professionals with minimal space require one single unit to store items such as shoes, handbags, scarves, necklaces and the like.
Statement of invention: To overcome this, the present invention is a self-supportive, mobile, angled, collapsible stand that displays and stores a num ber of items such as shoes, handbags, scarves, necklaces and the like, via shelves, open containers and hooks.
Advantages: The stand is multi-functional and decorative by design. It provides an effective storage solution for a variety of items. The angled staggered design of the construction creates a clear view of each item, and allows the user to easily obtain every item. The invention is sturdy and attractive in appearance. For purely decorative purposes the invention is shaped somewhat similar to a traditional step ladder. The sole function of the present invention is for a low weight bearing storage structure. The primary functionality is to store and display footwear, achieved by the combined feature of a shelf and angled support bar, providing means for mounting a variety of shoe types. The open boxes situated at the back of the stand provide an open storage area for flat shoes, magazines and the like. The hooks situated around the stand provide an ideal way to hang items such as necklaces, ties, handbags and the like. The top shelf provides a surface on which small objects may be set on. The stand is free-standing, self-supportive and easily moved from one location to another, adapting to the needs of the user. The stand can also be carried in a knocked down position as there are two hinges situated at the top of the back panel, allowing the invention to close and open into position. The invention can be produced in any material including, wood, metal, plastic, fibre glass and the like, in a combination of materials, or in one solid form. The number of shelves, containers and hooks on the invention can be built to suit customer requirements.
Figure 1 shows the side view of the display stand in position for use Figure 2 shows a partial sectional view of one of the front shelves Figure 3 shows the back view of the display stand Figure 4 shows the front view of the display stand FigureS shows the right angled front view of the display stand Figure 6 shows the left angled rear view of the display stand Figure 1 shows the relative dimensions of the invention when ready for use, from a right side view.
This diagram shows one side of both the front and back support leg (la, 4a). Located on the front support leg (la) are two fixed singular double pronged accessories hooks (7a, 7b) used to hang bags, necklacesand the like, on one or both of the double side angled hooks. The backstructure isformed by a joint construction, shown here on the two adjacent panels (3, 4a). The back panel (3) is fixed rigidly (shown here fixed to la and 2). The main function of back panel (3) is to provide a re-enforcement to the construction. This view also shows the location of a singular double pronged accessory hook (7c), secured on the back panel of the open container (5a), providing a facility to hang scarves, ties and the like.
Figure 1 shows the location of the two open storage boxes (5a, 5b), positioned on the back support leg (4a). The rope (6a) acts mainly as a decorative detail but thanks to the flexible material its made from, and the knot located at the end, also acts as a stopper, providing a guide of how far the support legs (la, 4a) can be set securely apart. The top shelf (2) rigidly fixed at the top of the invention provides a central platform for the construction. The function of the top shelf (2) is an area ideal to display and store small items such as jewellery boxes, perfumes and the like.
Figure 2 shows the location, angle and positioning of the middle shoe shelf (8c), as seen from the inside view of the front support leg (lb). This diagram includes a representation of a shoe (11), demonstrating the positioning of how an individual shoe would rest on the front of the shoe shelf (8c), and on the singular angled bar (9c), fixed to the back end of the shelf platform (8c).
Figure 3 demonstrates the a pproximate size and location of two separate hinges (lOa, lob), positioned on the two back legs (4a, 4b), which join to the solid back panel (3). This view shows the positioning of where the ropes(6a, 6b) are feed from the back legs (4a, 4b). This back view outlines the location of the accessory hooks (7a, 7b, 7e, 7f), the location of the top shelf (2), two open containers (5a, Sb), and the two back legs (4a and 4b). Figure 3 also shows partial views of shoe support bar (9e, 9c, 9b) and shoe shelves (8e, 8c, 8b).
Figure 4 demonstrates the approximate positioning of each shelf (8a, 8b, 8c, 8d, 8e), set individually between the two front legs (la, lb). They are self-supporting shelves, individually and rigidly secured at each end, to give the appearance of being free-standing. This front view shows the location of each identical shoe support bar (9a, 9b, 9c, 9d, 9e), each set in identical positioning on each front shelf(8a, 8b, 8c, 8d, 8e). This view shows the positioning of where the ropes(6a, 6b) feed from the front legs (la, lb). Figure 4 also shows the positioning of the hooks (7d, 7c), fixed to the back panel of the top open container (Sa).
FigureS provides shows how the invention appears from a front angle, demonstrating the proportional size of the frame and shelves, and the location of the angled support bar (9a, 9b, 9c, 9d, 9e), fixed to the back of each step (8a, 8b, 8c, 8d, Se). Each individual step (8a, 8b, 8c, 8d, 8e) has been shown styled with a rounded front to give the impression of a worn step. This view also shows the rounded corners of each four sides of the top shelf (2).
Figure 6 shows the back view of the invention from a left side angle. The identical front legs (la, lb) are angled at an incline towards the two hinged back legs (4a, 4b). The back legs (4a, 4b) are shown in an outward position to allow the stand to stand securely by itself. This view also demonstrates the shown style of the two open boxes situated at the back of the stand (Sa, Sb). The two rectangular open boxes (Sa, Sb) provide an ideal area to store flat shoes, magazines and the like. The angled metal bar (9a, 9b, 9c, 9d, 9e), situated at the back of each step is secured at both ends, with a thread bolt securing it firmly in place, fixed through the bottom of each step (8a, 8b, 8c, 8d, 8e). Each circular bar provides a support structure for the inside of any shoe heal type to rest over and against, enabling any type of healed shoe to stay securely in position, as the front half of a shoe rests against the front of the step.
