Abstract

A saxophone cleaner is disclosed which is able to clean the inside surface of a saxophone, by making contact with the entire inner wall of the musical instrument. In preferred embodiment the saxophone cleaner comprises a foam cleaner of substantially spherical shape, that is connected to a long cord. The cleaner is pulled through the saxophone by the cord and makes contact with the whole inner walls of the instrument, filling the bell of the instrument and reducing in size as it passes through the narrower part of the instrument. The cleaner returns to its original size and shape when extracted from the narrow end of the instrument. Preferably, the cleaner is washable and has a storage bag that doubles as a pull-through cleaner for the crook of the instrument. The cleaner may be manufactured in a variety of sizes, to suit baritone, tenor, alto, soprano or bass saxophones.

Description

Specification
Saxophone Cleaner.
This invention relates to a device for cleaning and drying the inside of a saxophone.
When a saxophone is played condensation accumulates inside the instrument.
The method used to clean and dry the inside of the instrument at present. Is to pull A piece of material attached to a cord with a weight on the end of the cord, through From the bell end I wide end of the instrument and out of the narrow end / top of the instrument. The same piece of material is then used to dry the inside of the crook by the same process. The crook being the curved narrow piece at the top of the instrument that the mouthpiece attaches to.
This method has proved to be not very efficient as the material only touches parts of the inside of the saxophone due to the material being flimsy.
the condensation that remains runs down to the bottom of the bell and forms A pool. Or remains in the length of the instrument if the instrument is placed in its case lying down. This condensation will then stagnate and can make the instrument and case have an unhygienic odour. due to bacteria breeding.
Statement of invention
To overcome this problem. The present invention proposes a saxophone cleaner that can be pulled through the instrument and will be in contact with the whole inner walls of the instrument. Filling the wide bell end of the instrument and reducing in size as it passes through to the narrow end of the instrument.
The cleaner comes in a small bag. This bag doubles as a cleaner for the crook / neck of the saxophone. Crook being the narrow separate piece that the mouthpiece attaches to At the top of the saxophone.
This saxophone cleaner will come in various shapes and sizes depending on the saxophone requirements. For example, weather it is a Baritone, Tenor, Alto, Saprano or Bass instrument. But the functionality will remain the same.
Filling the wide / bell of the instrument maldng contact with the whole inner walls and reducing in size as it passes through to the narrow /top end. Returning to full size and shape when extracted from the narrow end of the instrument.
Advantages The shape and design of this saxophone cleaner makes sure there is contact with the whole of the inside of the instrument from the wide bell of the instrument reducing in diameter as it is pulled through to the narrow end.
The cleaner can be pulled back and forth through the instrument as it has a webbing /cord attached to both ends Also the bag the cleaner is kept in, doubles as a pull through cleaner for the crook of the saxophone working in the same way. One corner of the bag fills the inside of the crook when it is pulled through cleaning and drying it completely.
After use the cleaner is stored away in the bag.
