In use, one chain end second connection device 11A, 11B can be removed from a pendant first connection device 3A, 3B, the chain can be passed around the body of a wearer, and the chain end second connection device re-connected to the pendant first connection device.

Description

-I
Title: Jewellery Chain and Pendant The present invention relates to a jewellery chain and pendant.
Chain and pendants which are worn around parts of the body (such as neck or wrist) have a length of chain with opposing ends releasably connectable to form a loop. One end on the chain has a connector such as a bolt ring which releasably connects to a ring on the other end of the chain. A pendant is permanently attached to the chain, often through a "loop" which slides on or is permanently connected to the chain.
A problem with this arrangement is that ajewellery shop has to stock many pendants of the same design each with differing chain lengths or style. This increases stock levels which can be detrimental to a business.
The invention seeks to provide a solution to this problem.
According to the present invention there is provided a jewellery chain and pendant comprising singly or in combination: a) a pendant having either a single or two first connection device/s to connect to a chain end, and b) a chain having at each end a second connection device to releasably connect to a pendant first connection device, in use to wear the chain and pendant, one chain end second connection device can be removed from a pendant first connection device, the chain can be passed around the body of a wearer, and the chain end second connection device re-connected to the pendant first connection device.
Preferably the second connection device is a bolt ring, lobster claw, or wire hook, and the or each first connection device is a ring.
An embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing showing a perspective view of a chain and pendant.
Referring to the drawing there is shown a pendant 1 and chain 10.
Pendant I has a pendant body 2 with a pair of first connection devices in the form of rings 3A,3B.
Chain 10 has two ends IOA,1OB each with a second connection device in the form of a ring bolt I IA,1113 to releasably connect to a pendant first connection device 3A,3B respectively.
Ring bolts 1IA,11B are of a type well known in the art.
In use to wear the chain and pendant, one chain end ring bolt I 1A or 1 lB can be removed from a pendant first connection device 3A or 3B, the chain can be passed around the body of a wearer, and the chain second connection device 11 A or 1 lB re-connected to the pendant first connection device 3A or 3B.
Instead of a ring bolt, the second connection device could be another connection device, e.g. a clasp such as a lobster claw, or wire hook. Alternatively the one or two second connection device could be on the pendant and the first connection device could be fitted on each end of the chain. The first and second connection devices could also be magnetic.
The invention allows ajeweller to stock an array of different pendants and a chains of different lengths (and design) which can be mixed and matched to a customers requirements keeping stock levels to a minimum whilst offering a wide choice of pendants (and chain designs). The user may also swap the pendant with another pendant without need to purchase another chain.
The invention may take a form different to that specifically described above. For example, instead of two first connection devices such as 3A,3B, a single connection device could be provide, e.g. central on the pendant, could connect to both the chain end second connection devices such as 11A,11B.
Further modifications of the invention will be apparent to those skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the present invention
