Abstract

A landing net or drop net comprising a stainless still frame covered in nylon netting. The net is wider at one end than the other. The net can be opened (fig 1) and clipped around the mainline of a fishing rod using hooks and eyes, with the largest opening facing down. The net is attached to a rope, lowered down over a rod caught fish and terminal tackle and subsequently pulled up to lift the fish out of the water. In doing so the net reverts to having the wider end facing upwards.

Description

Description.
Inline drop-net.
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings.
Figure 1: Shows the net closed.
Figure 2: Shows the net open with the hook and eye locking design.
A metal frame is made from 3mm stainless steel wire with 4 ribs running the length of the frame Fig 1 numbers 1-4 which are attached to loops Fig 1 numbers 5-8to form a frame.
There are hooks Fig 2 numbers 1& 2 that are on the rib Fig 2/B that clip and unclip around the rib Fig 2/A The third hook clips into an eye Fig 2 number 3.
The whole frame is covered in 25mm nylon netting and tied to the frame.
The frame consists of 4 ribs 500mm long and loops Fig 1 number 5 is 70mm in diameter, Fig 1 number 6 is 210mm in diameter, Fig 1 numbers 7&8 are 270mm in diameter.
The use of the drop-net is for landing rod caught fish from a height (piers, rocks and cliffs).
The net is clipped onto the mainline going from the rod to the terminal tackle with the largest opening facing down the line and is lowered by a rope Fig 1 number 9 to slide down the mainline To just under the surface of the sea, the fish and terminal tackle are pulled into the net, the rope is pulled back towards you which inverts the net cradling the fish. The net is retrieved and it eliminates the chance of the fish dropping off due to the weight on the nylon snapping it or the hook coming out due to the weight of the fish and loosing a lifetime best fish.
This is a drop-net that is attached to a rope that is clipped around the mainline of a fishing rod with the largest opening facing down.
It is lowered down over a rod caught fish and terminal tackle and when pulled to lift the fish, the net reverts to the right way up which enables you to pull the fish in safely.
