Abstract

Manhole covers.-A manhole cover is maintained at the road level despite the wearing of its supporting ledge by providing between the cover 7 and base ring 1 a reversible kerb 4 the ledges 6 of which form alternative supports for the cover. The kerb rests within a short flange 2 on the base ring so as to leave a ridge 3 forming a support for the crow-bar used to unseat the kerb.
