Abstract

A modular kitchen construction system comprises individual carcasses having vertical supports provided with elongate dovetailed grooves on each of four faces into which various 'tongued' components are inserted. These components may include drawer units, doors, cupboards and panels. The nature of the system is such that no screws, nuts and bolts or associated tools are required for construction.

Description

DESCRIPTION
A Modular Interlocking Kitchen When householders want to create, extend or change their kitchen they can do this with ease simply by sliding components together.
This is an improvement on the use of conventional kitchen units because it will enable the householders to build or rearrange their own kitchens.
The advantages of this system avoid employing expensive specialised labour in both design and construction.
The unique method of interlocking various components involves no use of tools, screws, nuts, bolts or fittings. Little or no skills are necessary in constructing the kitchen.
Because the construction is not permanent' the householder can rearrange his kitchen at a later date to suit his preferences or needs.
The modular kitchen is made up from different components, each component will add to the structure of the units, so as the kitchen becomes larger, it also becomes stronger.
The main components of the system are unique vertical supports which are joined together by each module,(e.g. panel, drawer unit, door) which are inserted between the vertical supports thus connecting them together.
Figure 1-This shows the vertical support that housed the main joint.
Figure 2 -This shoes the frames where components are housed. The joint on the frame is also seen.
Figure 3 -This is a picture of the vertical uprights with two frames slotted in.

Claims (5)

  1. CLAIMS1. An interlocking modular kitchen comprising of vertical supports each with dovetailed grooves on all four faces. Tongued frames holding components of choice are inserted into these grooves to form carcases. These components include drawer units, doors, panels, wine racks etc. This system gives the householder total flexibility with the design and construction of their kitchen. Unlike any other system available it has the facility to be changed after installation.
  2. 2. If more kitchen units are required to meet the needs of an extended family these can be simply added.
  3. 3. Should the householder wish to relocate his kitchen to a new property this is possible. The whole kitchen can be returned to its flat pack' state.
  4. 4. The simplicity of the system means that specialised advice and labour is not required.
  5. 5. No specific skills are required in construction. The average householder should be able to assemble the units with ease.
