Description

INSULATING HAND TOOL
1. Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a hand tool, and more particularly to an insulating and flexible hand tool.
2. Description of Related Art
A conventional insulating hand tool in accordance with the prior art comprises a handle and a functional part with a shank and an end piece. The shank is designed to be partly covered by an insulating sleeve made of plastic.
The end piece is insulated and connectable to said handle so that torque is transferable from said handle to said functional part. The handle is insulated from said shank. Furthermore the screw driver includes a holding device which is connected to the handle and comprises a secured position and a released position. The holding device is manually operable between the secured position and the released position. In the secured position the holding device positively engages the functional part such that the functional part cannot be detached from the handle. In the released position the functional part is allowed to be detached from said handle.
The conventional insulating hand tool can provide an electrical insulating effort. When operating the conventional insulating hand tool in a narrow or curved working space, the functional part may not reach the bolt/screw or user may have no space to drive the hand tool.
The main objective of the present invention is to provide an improved insulating hand tool that provides flexible structure and the effort of electrical insulation.
To achieve the objective, the insulating hand tool includes a flexible core, a driving portion connected to the flexible core, an installing portion connected to the flexible core, a handle connected to the installing portion, and an inner tube sleeved on the flexible core. The driving portion has a driving head in one free end thereof. The handle is made of insulating material. The installing portion is partially received in the handle. The inner tube is connected to the handle. The inner tube is made of insulating material and flexible.
In the drawings: Fig. 1 is a front elevation view of a flexible core with a driving portion and an installing portion of an insulating hand tool in accordance with the present invention; Fig. 2 is a front elevation view of a first insulating body of the insulating hand tool in accordance with the present invention; Fig. 3 is a front elevation view of a second insulating body of the insulating hand tool in accordance with the present invention; Fig. 4 is a partial cross-sectional view of the second insulating body with an outer tube of the insulating hand tool in accordance with the present invention; Fig. 5 is a partial cross-sectional view of the insulating hand tool in accordance with the present invention; Fig. 6 is a perspective view of the insulating hand tool in accordance with the present invention; and Fig. 7 is an operational schematic view of the insulating hand tool in accordance with the present invention.
Referring to the drawings and initially to Figs. 1-6, an insulating hand tool in accordance with the present invention comprises a first insulating body 4 and a handle 32 connected to the first insulating body 4.
Referring to Figs. 1-2, the first insulating body 4 comprises a flexible core 1, a driving portion 2 connected to the flexible core 1, an installing portion 3 connected to the flexible core 1, and an inner tube 5 sleeved on the flexible core 1. The flexible core 1 is made of metal wires so that the flexible core 1 is free to bend. One end of the flexible core 1 is connected to the driving portion 2 and the other end of the flexible core 1 is connected to the installing portion 3.
The driving portion 2 and the installing portion 3 are made of metal. The driving portion 2 has a retaining end 21, a driving shank 22 connected to the retaining end 21, and a driving head 23 connected to the driving shank 22. The retaining end 21 is connected to the flexible core 1 by clamping or pressing such that the driving portion 2 is secured with the flexible core 1. The driving head 23 is provided to fastenlunfasten a screw/bolt. In the present invention, the driving head 23 is a Phillips type driver. The driving head 23 can be a flat blade type driver or a sleeve. The installing portion 3 is provided to connect to the handle 32. The installing portion 3 has a retaining end 31. The retaining end 31 is connected to the flexible core 1 by clamping or pressing such that the installing portion 3 is secured with the flexible core 1. The inner tube 5 is made of insulating material. The inner tube 5 is flexible. The flexible core 1 is totally received in the inner tube 1. Both the retaining end 21,31 of the driving portion 2 and the installing portion 3 are partially received in the inner tube 1.
Referring to Fig. 3, the installing portion 3 is connected to the handle 32.
The handle 32 is made of insulating plastic and fabricated by plastic injection molding such that the first insulating body 4 is secured with the handle 32 to form a second insulating body 6. The inner tube 5 is connected to the handle 32.
Because the inner tube 5 and the handle 32 are made of insulating material, the second insulating body 6 provides the effort of electrical insulation.
Referring to Figs. 4-6, the insulating hand tool in accordance with the present invention further comprises an outer tube 7 sleeved one the inner tube 5.
The outer tube 7 is shorter than the inner tube 5 such that the second insulating body 6 rotatably moves relative to the outer tube 7. The outer tube 7 is made of insulating plastic and flexible. The insulating hand tool in accordance with the present invention further comprises a first insulating cover 8 and a second insulating cover 9. The driving shank 22 and the retaining end 21 are covered by the first insulating cover 8. The inner tube 5 is partially covered by the first insulating cover 8. The second insulating cover 9 is connected to the handle 32.
The inner tube 5 is partially covered by the second insulating cover 9. The first insulating cover 8 and the second insulating cover 9 are made of insulating plastic and fabricated by plastic injection molding such that the first insulating cover 8 is secured with the inner tube 5 and the driving portion 2 and the second insulating cover 9 is secured with the inner tube 5 and the handle 32.
Referring to Fig. 7, the operation of the insulating hand tool in accordance with the present invention is illustrated. When operating in a narrow or curved working space, the flexible core 1, the inner tube 5, and the outer tube 7 provide the effort of bending. User can easily operate in this environment. The first insulating cover 8, the inner tube 5, the outer tube 7, the second insulating cover 9, and the handle 32 provide the effort of electrical insulation to avoid getting an electric shock. Furthermore, user's one hand can hold the outer tube 7 and his other hand can twist the handle 32 such that the inner tube 5 and the driving portion 2 rotate with the handle 32 to fastenlunfasten the screw/bolt.
