Fixed-chamber apparatus, automatic control of flow of and varying quantity measured in. - Relates to apparatus of the kind in which a tank supplied with water at the required temperature under thermostatic or other control is combined with a measuring vessel to which water from the tank is admitted under adjustable control so that the supply is cut off automatically when the required charge has passed into the measuring vessel, and consists in combining such apparatus with apparatus for use in the preparation of dough. In Fig. 1 the measuring chamber b is arranged inside the supply tank a with which it communicates through a double-beat valve c. The valve opens under the head of water in the tank a and the vessel b fills until a pivoted float lever d is raised when a weight or spring gives a quick final movement to the float lever and through a sliding rod and pivoted lever e closes the valve c. The float lever is vertically adjustable in a guide rod g to vary the quantity of water in the vessel b. The discharge valve i leads to a distributing chamber having branch connections to mixing chambers k, l. Each chamber is provided with a stirrer m rotated by a motor n. The chambers k, j, m and their appurtenances are mounted on a wheeled carriage for traversing on a runway o. The float lever d is returned by operating a hand chain q. In a modified construction, Fig. 2, the chamber b communicates with the chamber a through a pipe 1 fitted with a two-way valve 2. In one position of the valve the chambers communicate, and in the other position communication is cut off and the chamber b opened to discharge. The tank a is provided with a float r connected by a wire to the lever of a relay valve v employed with a known type of spring-loaded diaphragm valve w. The latter is closed when the float rises to a predetermined height which is regulated by moving the hand wheel x to rotate a nut in which works a screwed part of the stem u supporting the guide pulleys t for the wire s. An index y and scale z indicates the adjustment. In a further frame for use with a portable kneading trough the chambers may be fitted with screw-operated pistons to vary the capacity.
