Abstract
The invention comprises a rubber covered steel girder F with a plurality of vehicle tyres E threaded onto the girder until a portion of the girder protrudes from each end of the row of tyres. The tyres may be held in position on the girder by steel rods H welded perpendicularly at either end of the girder. The completed steel girders may be dropped randomly onto the sea bed where they form a barrier to protect the coast from erosion. Turbines may be incorporated into the barrier to generate electricity by using the tidal currents.
Description
Description
A steel girder 12 feet long to 1 5 feet long, height and width the size to fit, snugly, vehicle used rubber tyres.
Coated girder in rubber 1 cm thick, or thicker girder encased in used vehicle tyres, along length, held in place by 4cm2 diameter steel rods.
Rods up to 6 inches from each end, rods welded this is item one.
Many of these item ones are dropped into sea, 50 meters, or appropriate due to geographic elevation, out to sea from lowest tide coastline.
This is a permeable barrier which will be from sea bed to sea level of highest tide.
These will be arranged in lengths of item ones along coastline vulnerable to costal erosion from small bay lengths, 50 meter or so, to kilometres or longer to 10 KMS, allowing gaps for animal life to get out if trapped.
The distance from low tide mark to item one steels varies with sea bed gradients from 20 to 100 meters.
This is will be a barrier about 3M to 7M but can be any height, and also can be more than one in a row this will lessen sea force and protect coastline.
Safety posts to be part of the structure, with lights to allow observance 24 hours/day.
There will be eddies of water current through gaps of the barrier. By placing a dual direction propeller, in these gaps a clockwise and anti clockwise revolution of the propeller will occur.
By using a device like A.S Turbine, or D.C, with both directions allowed, turbine, electricity, in valuable amounts may be generated.
This electricity if through many of the localised currents (of water) and A.C or D.C turbines can be taken to a transformer on shore by wire (electric cable) The voltage can be taken to a battery, or put into a electrical circuit.
If, at present, such an electrical generating device doesn't exist I wish the University of Glasgow's Departmental of Physics to have the opportunities of research, development, patentability and royalties.
The university college, London, The imperial college London and university of oxford are my preferred choices for the stage of common sharing and improving of invention for the benefit of all.
A mix of electricity and water is so very very lethal the progress on a more beneficial to us all will have to be very carefully researched and the potential then the network of electrical knowledge, is these establishments choice and is to available regardless of any political position.
That position with relation to computer life forms is the locii of when, and where: care, consideration and the removal of a threat to typically cellular (animate planet) life is, for the future, more important than the belief a computer type life form may believe of right The item one steels (nomenclature)
