Abstract

A gate which can be dismantled into numerous pieces allowing replacement of a single damaged part without needing the replacement of the whole gate. The width of the gate can be adjusted by inserting rails 2 of different lengths and the height can be adjusted by adding different posts 1. The gate can be used in conjunction with existing equipment, for example counter balance arms and scaffolding systems. The counter balance arms can be retracted to minimise intrusion into the work area.

ECO KIT GATE
THIS INVENTION RELATES TO A LOADING BAY GUARD GATE SYSTEM SIMILAR TO TIlE LOADING BAY GATES CURRENTLY PRODUCED BY US (THE NAMED INVENTORS) AND
USED WIDELY ON CONSTRUCTION SITES TO PROVIDE A QUICKLY REMOVEABLE GATE
TYPE GUARD TO THE LOADING BAY AREA OF A SCAFFOLDING SYSTEM.
BACKGROUND
THE GATES CURRENTLY USED ARE MADE FROM A FULLY WELDED FRAME
CONSTRUCTION WITH AN ADJUSTABLE WIDTH FACILITY OBTAINED BY MEANS OF A
TELESCOPIC SECTION. (SEE FIG I.)
THE PROBLEM WITH THIS SYSTEM IS THAT IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE A LIGHT WEIGHT
GATE VERY LIGHT SECTION STEEL OR ALUMINIUM IS USED, THIS IN TURN CREATES A GATE THAT IS VERY EASILY DAMAGED DURING TRANSPORT AND HANDLING ON SITE.
THIS RESULTS IN A GATE HAVING A VERY SHORT LIFE. GATES THAT ARE DAMAGED
ARE USUALLY REPLACED COMPLETELY AFTER ONE OR TWO USES THIS PROVES TO
BE VERY COSTLY AND WASTEFUL AS THE WHOLE GATE I-lAS TO BE SCRAPPED.
THE ECO 1(11 GATE IS A SYSTEM THAT CAN BE COMPLETELY OR PARTIALLY
DISMANTLED AND SO ANY SINGLE SECTION OR MULTIPLE SECTIONS THAT ARE
DAMAGED CAN BE REPLACED ON SITE, EVERY SINGLE PART CAN BE SUPPLIED AS A SPARE, THUS ELIMINATING THE NEED TO SCRAP ALL OF THE ASSEMBLY BECAUSE ONE PART IS DAMAGED (SEE FIG 2).
REPLACEMENT MATERIALS WILL BE DRAMATICALLY REDUCED AND TIlE BULK OF THE SYSTEM WILL BE RECYCLED MANY TIMES. THE COUNTER BALANCE ARMS ALSO INCORPORATE A RETRACTABLE FEATURE (8 & 9) FIG 3 TO ENABLE MINIMUM INTRUSION TO THE WORK AREA, ADJUSTABLE WIDTH'S CAN BE ACHIEVED SIMPLY BY ADDING DIFFERENT SIZED RAILS (NUMBER 2) AND MESH PANELS (NUMBER 4).
HEIGHTS CAN BE ALTERED BY ADDiNG DIFFERENT POSTS (NUMBERS 1 & 3) AND MESH PANELS (NUMBR 4)
