Abstract

An inflatable glove for use on the hand is inflated by means of tubing and a self-inflating bulb, similar to that used with a sphygometer. The glove is comprised of three layers, an inner elastic layer, an internal elastic layer and an external layer made of non-elastic material. The external layer is fused to the internal layer. The layers are sealed together at their periphery. A gap between the inner and internal layer is filled with air by a port which may be attached to the base of the thumb. All three layers are fused together in the palmar region. The self-inflating balloon may have a valve which controls the flow or air into and out of the balloon. The inflatable glove may be used in conjunction with a tourniquet on the upper arm so that the venous system above the device and up to the tourniquet will fill with blood. This will distend the veins in the forearm and antecubital fossa leading to more successful blood sampling and cannulation.

Description

Description: Device device is a hand glove which can be used on the palm. This hand glove is inflatable with air by a self inflating balloon which is attached to port placed at the base of thumb port on the glove. The self inflating balloon is pump by the person wearing the glove or assistant.
The glove is made up of 3 layers. The inner glove is made up of elastic/rubber material. The glove is also made up of elastic or rubber material (latex/non latex).
This goes on the first glove covering it entirely. The third layer is made up of non elastic material which is fused to the outer part of 2'" layer. These entire layers are sealed together at the periphery. The gap between the 1St and 2"' layer is filled with air by the port attached at the base of thumb. All the three layer are fused together on the palmer aspect The self inflating balloon is of a hand held size like the standard self inflating balloon on the Blood pressure measuring device. This balloon has valve attach on the mouth which controls the flow of air in and out of the balloon. Also it is port to let the air out.
The entire assembly is detachable.
A
These gloves can me modified for fitting on the hand. It can be inserted in the hand from the mouth end or alternately it can have gap on the lateral end which can have a Velcro attach for sealing.

Claims (2)

  1. SClaim: This device is invented to assist success for blood sampling or intravenous cannulation on the forearm in presence of tourniquet applied on arm. This device he1ps to forward the blood in the superficial tissue and deep muscle of the palm towards forarm. If the venous blood flow of the arm is occluded by tourniquet then this device will help to fill the venous system above the device upto the tourniquet with blood. This distend the veins in the forearm and antecubital fossa leading to more successful blood sampling and cannulation.AMENDMENTS TO THE CLAIMS HAS BEEN FILED AS FOLLOWSClaims 1. An inflatable glove comprising three layers, an inner layer, a middle layer and an outer layer, and an air inlet for allowing the passage of air between the inner and middle layers, characterised in that the three layers are fused together in a palmar region of a hand, when in use, and on a dorsal side of the hand the middle and outer layers are fused together, allowing air to be passed through the air inlet to inflate the glove only on the dorsal side.
  2. 2. The inflatable glove, according to claim 1, where the air inlet is positioned at the base of a thumb portion of the glove.
