Abstract
A telescopic safety rail for a bath that extends vertically from the rim of the bath comprises two tubes, one sliding inside the other, where one of the tubes has a plurality of slots spaced apart along the length of the pole that are joined together by a channel, a protrusion on the second tube may engage with a slot in the first tube, thereby locking the rail in predetermined positions. During use, the tube with the protrusion is raised and rotated until it drops into slot on the opposing tube at the height desired, assisting a bather from entering and exiting a bath. The rail is mounted on floor behind the bath panel and extends through the rim/side of the bath and may have a ball as handle.
Description
DESCRIPTION
HIDDEN BATH SAFETY BALL
The hidden bath safety ball is a telescopic tube that stands behind the bath panel. That fixes under the rim of the bath with the inside of the tube projecting through the front top rim of the bath. It is fixed to a ball handle on the top which rises and falls and locks into position.
The outer tube is fixed under the bath to the floor and the timber that runs under the rim of the bath. It is fixed with brackets. The outer tube has cut away slots which allow the pin on the inside tube to locate when the ball handle is lifted. The inside tube has a small metal pin that pretrudes the tube which runs in a slot in the outside tube when ball is pulled up. Then twisted and drops in position in the outside tube. The problem that this invetion solves is helping people to get in and out of the bath. The key feature is the ball that can be made from chromed steel, plastic or pot ect. It can fit anywhere along the rim of the bath and is very tidy. It is lifted into position (Fig 5B) when entering the bath and droped back down flush (Fig 5A) when in the bath. When getting out of bath the same procedure will apply. The tubes inside and out can be made of chromed steel tube.
