Abstract
A toothbrush holder comprises a beaker with a fenestrated base and a store detachably attached to the base of the beaker. The fenestrated base allows water droplets to pass through and collect in the removable store. The store may be removed from the beaker via lugs and grooves for example, for cleaning. Antiseptic liquid may be added to the removable store to keep toothbrushes dry, clean and healthy.
Description
Hygienic toothbrush holder This invention relates to a hygienic toothbrush holder.
The oral cavity is a frequent port of entry for many local and/or systemic infections.
Although the toothbrush is meant to clean the teeth and prevent tooth decay, however, contaminated toothbrush itself can cause the disease. A general principle of microbiology is that a wet environment will have germs present. Most germs require a wet environment to remain viable and to multiply. This become a potential source of tooth decay, gum disease, gingivitis, pharyngeal, gastrointestinal, respiratory or systemic infections After the usage of the toothbrush and putting it back in the traditional toothbrush holder (Beaker) water droplets slide along the toothbrush stem and settle in the bottom of the toothbrush holder (beaker). After few days a pool of water forms in the bottom of the beaker. Most of the people don't recognise this especially with non-transparent beakers. This pool of water becomes a good source for the presence and multiplication of germs and cross contamination between toothbrushes. Holding the contaminated toothbrush for teeth cleaning then using the hand for mouth wash can cause the infection. In order to clean the toothbrush holder the toothbrushes have to be removed each time that most of the people find not interesting.
To overcome this problem, the present invention proposes a toothbrush holder that consists of a beaker with a fenestrated base at the bottom. This fenestrated base allows water droplets to pass through and to be collected in an attached removable small store. More protection can be added by putting few drops of antiseptic liquid into the removable store. This will keep the toothbrushes dry, clean and healthy. The removable store can be removed for cleaning without the need to remove the toothbrushes. This will encourage for frequent cleaning.
The invention will now be described.
Figure 1 shows an assembled toothbrush holder with the attached removable store.
Figure 2 shows the unassembled toothbrush holder with a detailed description of each part.
In figure 1, a beaker is connected to the removable store. The size can be made to fit into any wall mounted piece. Also, it can be made with its own wall mounting piece.
Figure 2 shows the beaker 1 and the removable store 2. Near the base of the beaker there are three lugs 3 that fit easily into the grooves 4 that present in the top of the removable store 2. The base of the beaker 5 is fenestrated and formed from strands.
These strands can be pyramidal 6 or rounded 7 in shape. This shape helps to make the droplets of water pass through and settle in the removable store 2.
The twist and untwist manoeuvre to connect and disconnect the removable store to the beaker make it easy and encouraging to clean it frequently. Adding few drops of antiseptic liquid to the removable store will stop the growth of germs until cleaned.

- Claims 1. A hygienic toothbrush holder comprising a beaker with attached removable store.
- 2. A hygienic toothbrush holder according to claim 1, in which the beaker has a fenestrated base with strands taking the pyramidal or rounded shape that allows water droplets to pass through and collect in the attached removable store.
- 3. A hygienic toothbrush holder according to claimi, in which a removable store is attached to the beaker in different ways (e.g. lugs and grooves) where water droplets are collected and easy to wash out.
