Abstract

Transformers. - The ends of vacuum tubes used for lighting, advertising, and like purposes are surrounded by transformers for generating the high-voltage current required, and the two are enclosed in a bell-shaped conical or like housing so that no high voltage conductors are exposed. In the arrangement shown in Figs. 3 and 4, the housing d is of conical form and the transformer core f is of corresponding cross-section, the windings f<1>, f<2> being separated by air gaps f<3>. The end c of the tube a containing the electrode b is arranged within the transformer and shoulders h may be provided to keep the transformer in place. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 6 the transformer coils are wound one inside the other and a choke-coil i is arranged above the' transformer and separated therefrom by an insulating washer k. A condenser or resistance may be substituted for the choke-coil. The transformer and casing may be arranged to surround the ends of two or more tubes.
