Abstract

A fishing net with a weigh sling arrangement comprises a landing pole 2 and a quick release net head 1. A lock body 4 located at an end point of the landing pole engages with a complementary head key 3 at the base of a lock mechanism to attach the pole to the net head. The net head may be released from the pole by the pressing of quick release buttons 5,6. The net head includes a weigh string 7 which may be attached to a weighing scales. The net head includes a front arm 8 to provide support when netting and weighing. The net head includes rotatably adjustable arms 9 and 10 which together with the front arm allow the net head to fold away for storage and transport. The net may be used to capture carp.

DESCRIPTION

CARP FISHING NET APPARATUS

This invention relates to the affairs of netting and weighing a fish when carp fishing.

Conventionally, during carp fishing a carp is played into a landing net and is lifted out of the water. The hook is then removed and the fish is transferred into a weigh sling before being weighed.

However, such conventional practices increase the necessary health risks brought to carp by being caught and removed from water. Health risks include the possibility of dropping the fish, the time period out of the water and slime removal.

The invention will reduce the risk of dropping the fish as it does not have to be transferred to a sling, also meaning that there will be less slime removal as the fish is kept in contact with one surface and as the fish can be weighed straight away reduces the amount of time the fish is kept out of water.

To reduce such health risks posed to carp during capture the present invention proposes landing net unit with 'quick release' detachable head, where head is also used as weigh sling. Head includes feature where scales can be easily attached.

The 'quick release' feature is provided by a similar mechanism to that of a seat belt, push in to lock and press button to release.

Lock body is fixed to point on landing net pole and the complementary head key at the base of mechanism box.

In figure 1, right knob 14 is turned clockwise and left knob 13 is turned anti clockwise until arms 9 and 10 are open to their maximum. Front arm 8 should then be straight and

straight bracket 11 is slid over hinge 12 to prevent hinge 12 from folding and secure role of front arm 8.

In figure 2, net head 1 is connected to landing pole 2 via the insertion of head key 3 into lock body 4.

In figure 3, quick release buttons 5 and 6 are pressed releasing net head 1 from landing pole 2.

In figure 4, net head 1 is used to weigh fish. Weigh string 7 is used as means of attachment to weighing scales. Front arm 8 provides extra support for arms 9 and 10 during the weighing process.

In figure 5, straight bracket 11 is slid to one side exposing hinge 12. Left knob 13 is turned clockwise and right knob 14 is turned anti clockwise, bringing arms 9 and 10 together.

In figure 6, net head 1 is compact appropriate for storage.

Claims

1. A carp landing net with weigh sling capabilities comprising a landing pole and 'quick release' net head.

2. A carp landing net with weigh sling capabilities according to claim 1, in which 'quick release' net head is provided by a locking mechanism similar to that of a seat belt, push in to lock and press button to release.

3. A carp landing net with weigh sling capabilities according to claim 1, in which weigh sling capabilities are provided by 'quick release' mechanism of net head from landing pole and weigh string feature.

4. A carp landing net with weigh sling capabilities according to claim 1, in which netting and weighing capabilities are increased via a front arm and straight bracket.
