Abstract

An automatic refuse bin refresher and sanitizer comprising a dispenser that dispenses a measured dose of atomised air freshener and fly spray and activated when the bin lid 9 is closed. The dispenser overcomes the problems of odour and maggot infestation, associated with refuse bins. The dispenser may be attached to the bin via a hook (4, Fig 4) and an adhesive pad 5 on the back of the dispenser. Preferably the dispenser contains a spray bottle 2 and the dispenser has a hinged lid 11 with a hole, to direct the spray into the bin, when the lid of the dispenser is depressed by the lid of the bin. The body of the dispenser is such to allow the free flow of rubbish when the bin is being emptied. In addition the lid 11 of the dispenser may have a catch that prevents the lid from opening when the bin is being emptied but does not prevent the lid from being depressing. The spray bottle may have an offset design (7, Fig 4) to allow perfect alignment of the spray bottle with the opening in the lid of the dispenser.

AUTOMATIC BIN OR WHEELIE BIN REFRESHER

This invention relates to a device which freshens and sanitizes a wheelie bin.

When people use their wheelie bins, especially for waste recycling they find that they tend to attract flies, which can lead to maggots and bad smells, and as bins tend to be emptied once a fortnight this invention will alleviate this problem.

It works by the action of the wheelie bin lid opening and closing. When the unit is attached to the bin the combined air freshener and fly killer is gently sprayed into the bin. As the lid gets to the closed position, the design of the unit means that only one measured dose is administered per closing which would give an average use of Approximately 30 days. The unit is made of water and chemical resistant materials.

The invention will now be described solely by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:

Figure 1 shows a front on aspect with the lid open and the front removed,to show the position of the spray bottle in relation to the unit.

Figure 2 shows the front aspect with the lid closed.

Figure 3 shows the right hand aspect with the lid catch and spray director.

Figure 4 shows the left hand aspect with offset bottle design.

Figure 5 shows wheelie bin with the design incorporated in the bin.

In figure 1 the drawing shows the nozzles 1 and the spray bottle 2 the lid 11 is freely hinged 6 to allow it to move up and down on specially designed catch 3 which presses the spray nozzle to release the atomised spray.

In figure 2 the drawing shows the lid 11 which is in the closed position, showing the nozzle in the spray position.

In figure 3 the drawing shows the specially designed catch 3 with bin hook 4 and the water proof adhesive pad 5 for securing the unit to the wheelie bin, the spray director 10 is also shown.

In figure 4 the drawing shows the spray nozzle 1 and the hinge 6 position, the bottle 2 also shows the offset design 7 of the bottle to allow perfect alignment of the spray nozzle 1 to the spray director 10 in the lid 11

In figure 5 the drawing shows the unit within wheelie bin 8 showing the adhesive pad 5, the bin hook 4, spray bottle 2, nozzle 1 and the wheelie bin lid in the closed position.

1. Claim

   1. Automatic bin or wheelie bin refresher unit made of water and chemical resistance materials, comprising of a dispenser which automatically gives a measured dose of atomised air freshener and fly spray combination by the action of a bin or wheelie bin lid being in the closed position. The atomiser has an offset body shape that makes the positioning of the nozzle correct each time an atomiser is replaced The specially designed lid catch on the unit stops the units lid opening when the bin or wheelie bin is emptied, the body of the unit is designed to allow the free flow of rubbish when the bin or wheelie bin is emptied.
