A structural element (10) in the form of a length of MDPE pipe (12). The pipe (12) may have for instance grooves (14) on the outside thereof to provide a decoration. The pipe may be filled with concrete and also metal reinforcements. The pipe (12) may have services such as cables or pipes running therethrough in smaller pipes.
