Abstract

Electric and mag. netic.-The poles of a brake magnet for an electrical instrument are equipped with polepiece structures composed wholly or in part of a material of which the magnetic permeability changes with a change of temperature, the configuration and distribution of the magnetic flux in the working gap being thereby caused to vary with change of temperature. Fig. 10 shows a mercury motor meter, in which the brake magnet 67 is equipped with pole fringes 27 of material having a negative temperature coefficient of permeability. Another method of applying the pole fringes 27 to a brake magnet 67 is shown in Fig. 11.
