Abstract

The vehicle comprises a platform (5) and a rotatable hand crank as a handlebar (1) to activate a chain (2) which drives a main central wheel (4). Brakes and steering controls are located on the handle bar. Four additional wheels (3) provide stability and suspension. The two stabilising wheels that are located at the front of the vehicle are responsible for directional steering.

DESCRIPTION
THE WHIZ DISC
(Upright Hand Pedalled Vehicle) The Whiz Disc' is the first ever upright hand pedalled vehicle for recreational, transportation or sporting use. Unlike a standard bike the Whiz Disc' is controlled by hand operated pedals. The rider stands upright and rotates the operational handle bars in a clockwise direction to propel the vehicle foiward. The handle bars activate the chain which drives the main central wheel located at the base of the Whiz Disc'.
The Whiz Disc' is a completely unique method of transport with amazing scope for experimentation as a recreational activity. The Whiz Disc' brings a new dimension to travel with a completely refreshing approach.
The drive chain works in the same way as a standard bike with the pedals rotating the crank arms to activate the chain. Gearing systems are an optional addition to the design. The brakes are located on the handle bars and control the main central wheel. Rim brakes, in which friction pads are compressed against the wheel rim are used on the central wheel to bring the vehicle to a stop. The four additional wheels stabilise the vehicle and provide suspension for a smoother ride. The two front stabllising wheels located in front of the main central wheel control steering.
Description of parts: Refer to Figure 1 and 2 (page 2/4) 1. The handle bars act as the pedals. They rotate in a clockwise direction to control the movement of the chain which drives the main central wheel, propelling the vehicle forward.
2. The chain is driven by the rotating handle bars and is positioned on the frame of the vehicle. This will be housed safely with a protective cover.
3. Four additional suspension wheels are at the base of the platform. These give stability and indude suspension for a smoother ride. The two front stabilising wheels are responsible for steering.
4. The main central wheel that propels the vehicle forward. This wheel is brake activated and is powered by the operational rotating handle bars that drive the main chain.
5. The circular disc shaped platform is where the rider stands.
6. The main frame. This is also integrated into the disc shaped platform to strengthen the vehide and support the additional wheels.
7. The brakes and steering controls are positioned on the handle bars Figure 2 shows more clearly how the vehicle works in conjunction with a passenger.

Claims (2)

  1. * CLAIMS 1. An upright standing, hand pedalled vehicle that functions by rotating operational handle bars in a clockwise direction to propel the drive chain and main central wheel responsible for movement.
  2. 2. The vehicle has one hand pedalled central wheel which is brake activated and responsible for movement, four stabilising wheels offering suspension, two of which located at the front of the vehicle control steering, making a total of five wheels.
