Description

ENTERPRISE APPLICATiON INTEGRATION, DISPLAY AND SHARING SYSTEM AND
METHOD
Sam Bose Jon Fernyhough Charles Vivian Priority Claim This application is a continuation in part and claims priority to U.K. Patent Application 0606413.3 filed on March 30, 2006 and entitled "Knowledge and Skills Sharing System", the entirety of which is incorporated herein by reference, and to the version of this application submitted in the United States of America on March 28, 2007.
Field
The system and method provide a desktop application suite that enables enterprises to deliver personalized information, support new business processes and enable real time ad hoc and structured collaboration across an enterprise ecosystem of employees, customers, suppliers and partners.
Background
On line communities are well known. One conventional system provides an on-line service community with a foreign service such as the Internet World Wide Web. To take advantage of the system, on-line service subscribers access a membership module to complete a membership process in which they join communities each of which represents a specific area of interest. The system operates as an extension to a user's preferred Web browser and is manifested as a toolbar comprised of control buttons and a viewer on a computer user's screen.
By interacting with the control buttons of the toolbar and the menus of the viewer, on-line service content is delivered to the user in response to the URLS specified by the user as he or she browses the Web. In addition, control buttons on the toolbar present opportunities for interacting with other community members. Although the user may change URIS and Web sites frequently, the disclosed invention maintains a context via a persistent connection between a Community Server at the on-line service and a Community Client on the user's computer for the user's interactions so that on-line service content may be presented and interactions with other community members facilitated. The benefit of this conventional system for end-users is a transformation of the Web to a community.
Another conventional software system allows a guide/specialist to interact with a client on a real-time, interactive basis over the World Wide Web. The methodology includes configuring a guide system with a special-purpose browser dispJaying both locally displayable frames and remotely displayable frames. The client system utilizes a conventional browser. The remotely displayable frames are transmitted to the client so that both the guide and the client have identical views of the remotely displayable frames. The guide uses the locally displayable frames to call upon available web resources, typically in response to a client request also transmitted over the web via, for example, a chat program, and then the guide can load the remotely displayable frames into the remotely displayable frames for rendering by the conventional browser. In addition, the guide and client can interact with a shared pointer and a shared whiteboard. Moreover, the guide can record the live session for later playback by other clients. Also, a plurality of clients may be simultaneously interacting with the guide and each other.
Another conventional system provides an information and application distribution system ([ADS). The lADS operates to distribute, initiate and allow interaction and communication within like-minded communities. Application distribution occurs through the transmission and receipt of an "invitation application" which contains both a message component and an executable component to enable multiple users to connect within a specific community. The application object includes functionality which allows the user's local computer to automatically set up a user interface to connect with a central controller which facilitates interaction and
introduction between and among users.
Another system/company provides a collaboration forums where users can use asynchronous and synchronous tools to undertake a specific project. The collaboration and innovation system that is alleged to create a virtual entrepreneurial work space and facilitates individual and group innovation efforts to solve problems and/or create intellectual property and/or create business opportunities is described. The system facilitates innovation efforts being done in response to stated problems and/or opportunities identified in the system and/or business ideas coming from members of the system network.
Thus, it is desirable to provide an enterprise system and method that overcomes the limitations with the known systems and it is to this end that the present invention is directed.

Detailed Description of ExemDlary Embodiments
The invention is particularly applicable to a web-based enterprise system with a suite of tools accessible via a typical browser application and it is in this context that the invention will be described.
The system and method provides a structured two-way communication between service providers (e.g. problem solvers) and service customers (e.g. corporations and others desirous of having technical, marketing or other problems solved or of becoming aware of business opportunities) via a social network which is in effect a horizontal network. The system provides a software application that permits an enterprise to build a network. in a first embodiment described with respect to Figures 1 and 2, a network based system for creating a social network is described that has a private zone, community zone and a solution zone that may be accessed by a web browser. In a second embodiment, an application that may be downloaded and generates a webtop, communities and one or more workspaces is described with respect to Figures 3-17.
Now, the network based system is described in more detail.
In particular, the present invention provides a network based system for creating a social network e.g. among knowledge-based professional including scientists and technologists from enterprises and universities, intellectual Property professionals, product development professionals from enterprises and product consumers who are "lead users". By facilitating the development of global networks the present system or platform (e.g. software running on a network of servers, workstations and other data processing devices connected in a network) creates value for users by allowing them to: * Connect with people with the right expertise * Join and participate in defined communities composed of users with shared interests * Share their knowledge and content within their personal network or communities * Access and Share real time information and data from other systems.
* Modify existing business process and execute them.
* Use the system to undertake specific job roles.
* Collaborate within a asynchronous and synchronous model.
Throughout the system, events are used to initiate interaction and collaboration between network or system users. Each user can publish events to generate interest from members of their personal network or the communities. These members can submit a response, indicating their interest in collaborating to execute the events. The system provides a shared workspace that facilitates communication and collaboration between users in the execution of events, acting as a vehicle for innovation delivery and product lifecycle management.Embodiments of the system support a wide range of events including: * Resolution of an R&D problem * Gaining feedback on a new product * Co-designing of a new product * in-licensing of an existing technology * Out-licensing of an existing technology * Defining a new product * Developing a new product * Commercializing a new product * Executing a recruitment process from the single interface * Sourcing performance metrics data on a specific process It is an advantage of embodiments of the invention that the system can be configured to support additional events without further programming.
One feature of an embodiment of the present system is to promote collaborative innovation to create value for individuals and enterprises alike, e.g. for sharing knowledge, trading in intellectual property and developing innovations. To this end, the present system will enable each individual user to create and build their personal network. Each network member will have the ability to either originate or participate in "events" which create value across the network. These events will be initiated by the network users and execution of these events will be facilitated by the platform provided by the system of the invention.
The present system, in an embodiment, provides each user with one or more of the following: * a peer to peer collaboration workspace * Single interface to access data from other enterprise systems * Identify and connect with other members across the enterprise ecosystem * Alerts relating a specific process that is linked to the daily job of the user * Use modern communications technologies to communicate with co-workers or customers, suppliers and partners The present system, in an embodiment is divided across the concept of logical "Zones" where each zone provides the end user with a set of tools to communicate and collaborate with the social network. The zones govern the nature of interaction between users. The present system in an embodiment will have three types of zone: * Private Zone The private zone allows an individual to develop a network of personal contacts. Each subscriber to the system has his own network of contacts in a similar way to MSN/Skype/ Linked in. A subscriber can invite external members to join their network or can browse and find existing system users that they are able to invite to their network via referrals (i.e. from their first or second degree contacts). Users with an annual subscription will be able to search and invite members without referral. These users with annual subscription will have access to the email address of other network users. A range of communication & collaboration tools may be provided including: IM and VoIP enabled through Skype.
in the private zone, users will be able to publish/originate events to their personal contacts and also participate in events published by their contacts. An individual can use the private zone to manage all his events in which he is participating or of which he is the originator.
The private zone home page will have access to "Share", "Trade" and "Develop" events.
* Community Zone (Sector Specific, Online communities for specific product areas in diverse industries) Community Zones represent user groups (communities) that are developed across specific product areas in different industry sectors. These product areas are chosen by the users and they aim to create a community by bringing together professionals who work in those product areas and users who have an interest in those specific product areas. For example, within the communications industry sector, a community zone has been created for MobiieTV.
There are two categories of target users for this zone: 1. individuals who work in media companies, telecom operators or content providers that are currently creating services for Mobile TV.
2. End users who are currently subscribing to this service.
Creation of community zones can be requested by any user of the present system. While subscribing users will be provided with the ability to create community zones and non subscribing users need to request the system to open these zones.
These Community Zones may store details of all the community members and events that are published to the community. Every user of the system can be a member of either one or more Community Zones across different sectors. This will be driven by the individual's profile and choice. Any event that is published in a specific Community Zone may be viewed by all members of the Zone.
Every subscribing enterprise can open enterprise specific and branded community zones which will be managed by one or more super-users. Super-users can invite other members to the community both from within the enterprises or external individuals. These super users can also create community zones for specific product areas, where they can create a community of users with an interest in that specific product area. For example, a large corporation may create a company-specific community zone within the present system or network where they invite a selection of their employees. These employees can invite other individuals to the zone, thus enabling the institution to create a community within their company-specific zone.
In embodiments, one objective of Community Zones is to create a global community of individuals with background and interest in a specific sector and defined product areas. These individual's interest in that particular product area drives them to either share feedback with companies currently creating those products or provide new ideas to the community to create new product designs that can be co-developed or provide current product related project problems to the community for potential solutions. The present system provides them with a platform that enables creation of the community by providing product specific content (e.g. news), forums/blogs co-design tools and product prototyping tools that can support all "events" that are published and accessed by all members of the Community Zone.
* Solution Zone Solution Zones provide a shared workspace for a limited group of users to execute events as projects.
A solution zone effectively provides communication and collaboration tools that enable management and execution of a project. Each solution zone may be created and removed on an "on demand" format. These solution zones can be created by subscribing users or by the administration of the present system.
In embodiments, each solution zone may provide provides a set of collaboration tools specific to the event been worked on. These tools may be mapped against "Share", "Trade" and "Develop" business processes.
In embodiments, tools may fall under one or more of the following categories: o Communication tools: VoIP, IM, Group chat, Video calls/conference o Collaboration tools: Document review, Document sharing, File Sharing, Application Sharing, Project Portfolio Management, White Boarding, Note Board, Discussion Board Individuals and organizations subscribing to the present system may gain the following benefits from the "share" functionality: 1. A platform for them to publish events that relate: * to finding help in solving their R&D / Product development related problems * to co-designing products with end users.
* to obtaining online feedback I suggestions from end users on existing and new products.
2. A platform to make commercial gain from their specialist knowledge by * Providing solutions to R&D project problems leveraging their social network.
* Participating in online product feedbacks.
* Participating in Co design of product prototypes etc. These users may include individuals who are scientific and technology professionals working across universities, industry and end users of products and services.
Software for implementing the present system (which also forms part of the invention) can run in a web browser using AJA)( (Asynchronous Javascript and XML) technology to provide a rich client experience with advanced user interaction more akin to a thick client application. This allows users to dynamically interact with the client and receive immediate feedback. Unlike typical web applications, the present software is a hybrid solution consisting of two components, an application server and a desktop client (as shown in Figure 1).
As shown in Figure 1, the application server hosts and delivers the static pages for a system web site along with the dynamic data for the Community Zones. A database holds data for all user profiles, Community Zones/members, events and any responses published to the Community Zones. A desktop client may be a lightweight component, downloaded and installed on each user's computer. The desktop client acts as a local application server that hosts and delivers content for the Private Zone and Solution Zones with links to the peer to peer network to retrieve data hosted on a contact's computer.
Privacy and security is important for some embodiments. The desktop client may be restricted to only serve content to a browser on the local computer while the peer to peer network only establishes connections with first degree contacts. Access may be restricted to data specifically published by the user. In addition, all data transmitted across the peer to peer network may encrypted for security e.g. using known encryption algorithms.
Data published within the Private Zone or Solution Zone is preferably not stored on the system application server, and instead the data remains on the computers linked in the Private Zone or Solution Zone only. This preferred feature promotes the integrity of each user's data and ensures that only the individuals with the right to see that data can access it Although the present system can in an embodiment interface with Skype to provide the communication tools and access the P2P network, the P2P interface allows the underlying P2P network to be substituted for an alternative implementation allowing Zogix to work across any P2P network.
The desktop client in embodiments may allow the client application to operate while the computer is not connected to the internet (offlinc'). While working offline, the user may access any data that has been cached locally, publish new events or respond to existing events. New data will be automatically synchronized with the main application server and peers when next online.
The system described above has a number of advantages: * Application Architecture: the unique hybrid architecture composed of the web-browser interface, application server, desktop client and interface to the P2P network is designed with portability and flexibility in mind.
* Security and privacy: the present software and system allows the user to communicate and collaborate with their contacts across three zones: Private, Community and Solution. Each zone governs the tools and controls the levels of security and privacy ensuring the user is always in control of the information they are publishing and where the information and intellectual property is stored.
* Needs-based network: unlike other social networks, System Events drive the growth of the network by generating genuine interest and real commercial value.
* Supports a diverse range of events across new product development: the system platform may be configured to support a wide range of events to cater for user requirements.
* Innovation Lifecycle: supports the complete innovation value chain from generation of new concepts through selection, development and commercialization using the communication and collaboration tools designed to support specific events across the process.
This holistic approach differentiates from the existing applications that address just a part of the value chain.
* Offline Operation and Synchronization: The desktop client allows users to interact with the System Platform while they are not connected to the internet. Users can publish or respond to events or work with the tools. New content is automatically synchronized with the application server and/or peers when next online.
* Peer to Peer Social Network: the peer to peer interface allows users to interact directly within their social network without using email or being relayed via the application server.
* Network Creation and Expansion: The present system promotes the creation and building of each individual's network based on specific needs and finding people with the appropriate skills to help.
* Scale: Allows enterprises to gain a global perspective no matter how large or small and to connect directly with their consumers.
The software to support the present system may be lightweight, flexible and portable. The application may run in a web browser to provide a portable user interface but still have access to the peer to a peer network through the desktop client. The application may be been programmed using the Ruby on Rails web development framework which is a scripted language supported across Windows, Linux and Mac OSX.
The block diagram shown in Figure 2 shows schematically an event management process which may be carried Out in an embodiment of the invention. An event management process may be carried Out at the client station of an event organizer (e.g. a member of the R&D staff of a subscribing organization) or by an event participant (e.g. a member of the research staff of a university. Software routines provide for an event organizer to create an event and event keywords and to publish that event. The event organizer then waits for responses, shortlists them, opens a "solution zone" and invites participants. Participants can browse the system for events in which they might be interested or search for events in wither their private zone or in a community zone, and can download events in which they are interested. They can then respond to the event, and on notification of an invitation be the event organizer can join the solution zone if so invited.
Figure 3 illustrates a second embodiment of the enterprise collaboration system having an application with a webtop, communities and workspaces that may be used to creates networks.
This embodiment has many of the same functions and advantages as the above described embodiment. In this embodiment, the system may include an application 100 that may be downloaded from a website that then operated in conjunction with the system shown in Figure 1.
The system shown in Figure 1 may be implemented using one or more server computers that execute a plurality of lines of computer code that implement the functions and operations of the system. The application may be a software application that runs on a computing device with sufficient processing power ( a processing unit), memory and connectivity to interact with the enterprise collaboration system, such as a personal computer, laptop computer, PDA, PocketPC device, a cell phone, or a mobile handset and the like since the system is not limited to the particular type of computing device on which the application is executed.
The application 100 may include one or more workspaces 101 (described below in more detail) that provide the same functions and operations as the solutions zones described above in Figure 1. Each workspace may further include one or more collaborative tools 102 that permits the user of the application to collaborate with other users of the system. In an exemplary embodiment, the collaborative tools are based on the known Skype platform and technology.
The collaboration tools permits the system to manage members of the workspace inside or a firewall as well as outside of the firewall of an enterprise. The collaborative tools in an exemplary embodiment may include a task list, calendar, whiteboard and document review portion. The task list allows members of a particular workspace to coordinate tasks for the project/goal associated with the workspace while the calendar permits the member to coordinate on meetings, etc. The whiteboard permits the members to collaborate with each other on ideas, etc while the document review portion permits the members to review and finalize a document among the members. In an exemplary embodiment, the document review portion may be built on Microsoft Word. The system permits a network of user who can communicate with each other/collaborate with chat sessions and VoIP between the users.
Figure 4 illustrates an example of a webtop of the second embodiment of the enterprise collaboration system. The webtop is part of the application running on a computing device of a service request organizer (which may be a web browser or an application program) with tabs to provide access to the webtop (which is private to the individual user), communities (which are the shared area of the enterprise collaboration system), one or more workspaces (that permit the user to submit/work on a service request with the users of the enterprise system), web 2.0 that provides access to various known Web 2.0 services and applications and an add page tab. The webtop page also has one or more portions such as a "my connections" portion that shows the connections of the particular user, a "latest requests" portion that shows the service requests of other connections of the user, a "my communities" portion that shows the communities with which the particular user is associated, a "polls" portion that permits the user to post pools for the users of the system (wherein the system may use the social network of the enterprise to send out the poii and the user can create tags for the poll and select the users who receive the poll), an "ask the network" portion that permits the user to submit a new service request, a "messages" portion that shows the messages for the user within the enterprise cot laboration system and a "my network status" portion that shows the status of the network of the user.
Figure 5 illustrates a first service request user interface of the second embodiment of the enterprise collaboration system. In this user interface, the user can enter a new service request may be by a wizard forming part of the software resident in the application as shown in Figure 5.
As shown, the user interface may provide instructions to the user to fill out the new service request form. Figure 6 illustrates a second service request user interface of the second embodiment of the enterprise collaboration system. In this user interface, the service requester can specify keywords for the new service request , and permit the user to select suggested participants or targeted participants for the service request so that the service request originator can publish his service request to system recommended participants or to other targeted participants.
Figure 7 illustrates a service request response user interface of the second embodiment of the enterprise collaboration system. As shown in Figure 7, the new service request is shown in the "ask the network" portion and the same portion may receive responses to the service request that are also displayed in the "ask the network" portion. Figure 8 illustrates a create workspace user interface of the second embodiment of the enterprise collaboration system. In particular, the user with the new service request may then create a new workspace (using the create workspace button) for the new service request.
Figure 9 illustrates a view service request user interface of the second embodiment of the enterprise collaboration system. A particular user with his/her web top is able to view other service requests from other users of the system in the "latest requests" portion of the webtop.
Figure 10 illustrates a second view service request user interface of the second embodiment of the enterprise collaboration system wherein the user can view events and mark those in which he is interested.
Figure 11 illustrates a recommended participants user interface of the second embodiment of the enterprise collaboration system. In particular, as shown in Figure 11, the service requester may be advised by an intelligent database forming part of the software at a server of other participants whose skills may be useful in solving the problem. In the example shown in Figure 11, there are no recommended first degree contacts with the appropriate skills for the particular service request.
Figure 12 illustrates a response user interface of the second embodiment of the enterprise collaboration system. In particular, each user of the system may then signal his/her interest to the service requester and ask to join the workspace. Figure 13 illustrates a submit abstract for the service solution of the second embodiment of the enterprise collaboration system so that the participant may submit a detailed response, and may receive an invitation to join the workspace for the service request originator.
Figure 14 illustrates a dashboard of a workspace of the second embodiment of the enterprise collaboration system. In particular, each workspace contains a number of tools for assisting in the solution of the problem the subject of the service request in question. The user interface shown in Figure 14 is a workspace for the service request organizer. In particular, each workspace may include an objectives portion, an approach portion, a "my tasks" portion, a calendar and a workspace participants portion that shown the participants and permits the user to chat or call with each other and add or delete participants.
In a scenario illustrating an embodiment of the system, a registered user from an enterprise representing the R&D function is looking for help in solving a problem within an R&D project or a product development project. The user is looking for assistance from his trusted contacts in the web top.
The registered user structures the problem abstract using Microsoft office (word, excel etc) or using the Rich Text Format (RTF) available in the present system. If structured in Microsoft office the user copies and pastes the abstract to the system browser.
* The user publishes the service request to his web top (the user has the option to publish to specific individuals in web top, to all members of the web top or to one or more Communities). During publication the user provides the following information: Links the service request to calendar so that members of the users web top can see timelines related to the project (specifically the publication date, deadline for submissions, anticipated start and end dates for the project.
* Associates a tag" that best summarizes the problem. This tag will then be available for all individuals in the web top who can search using the "tag".
This "Tag" will effectively act as a common identifier for all R&D projects in the category.
* Specifies the commercial value associated with solving the problem.
* The user receives solutions submitted by members of his network. The solutions are associated with the problem abstract the user posted and linked to the "tag" that was specified for the problem.
* The user reviews the solution abstracts that are presented and decides on a short-list of solution providers.
* The user opens a workspace and invites the short-listed solution providers into the * When opening the workspace and inviting the successful solution providers, the user provides feedback for the non-successful proposals. The feedback is added as a comment to the non-successful proposals and the event status changed so that "interested parties" are made aware of the success/failure of their proposal. Notification may also be sent via email.
* When the problem has been solved and the workspace closed, the user may choose to create a personal blog entry to present the results to their private network.
A second scenario illustrates another embodiment in which a registered user is also within an R&D department and looking for help in solving an R&D problem or a product development project. The user is looking for assistance from the members of the different communities the user belongs to.
* The user structures the problem abstract using Microsoft office (word, excel etc) or in the RTF available in the system. If structured in Microsoft office the user copies & pastes to the system browser.
* The user publishes the service request to a number of Communities they are a member of. During publication the user has to provide the following information: * Links the service request to calendar so that members of the Communities can see timelines related to the project.
* Associates a "tag" that best summarizes the problem. This tag will then be available for all individuals in the Communities who can search using the "tag". This "Tag" will effectively act as a common identify for all R&D projects in the category.
* Specifies the commercial value associated with solving the problem.
* The user receives solutions submitted by members of Communities. The solutions are associated with the problem abstract and linked to the "tag" that was put for the problem. The user can view all submitted solutions from "My Service Requests" in the Web Top.
* User reviews the solution abstracts that are presented and decides on short-list.
* The user opens a workspace and invites the short-listed solution providers into the workspace to solve the problem. Each solution provider that accepts the invitation is added to the users Private Network.
* When opening the workspace and inviting the successful solution providers, the user provides feedback for the non-successful proposals. The feedback is added as a Comment to the non-successful proposals and the service request status changed so that "interested parties" are made aware of the success/failure of their proposal. Notification may also be sent via email.
* When the problem has been solved and the workspace closed, the user may choose to create a community blog entry to present the results to the Communities they are members of.
In a third scenario for an individual who is from the scientific and technology community and currently at a university or another enterprise, the individual is looking for a commercial gain from his specialist knowledge by solving problems posted by their Web Top contacts or by other community zone members.
* The user chooses to browse for problems posted by contacts in their Web Top.
* Seeing that there are a significant number of problems, the user selects a "tag" to filter down to problems categorized by the selected tag.
* The user reviews a number of problem abstracts and adds them to "My Problems" to deal with later.
* The user is a member of several Communities and could choose to browse the problems posted to each Community in the same way he just has for the Web Top. However, rather than browsing each Community separately, the user decides to search for problems posted to the network using the search function. The user may search by keyword, event originator, date range through which problems were published or reach deadline or by tag.
* The results are returned from all Communities of which the user is a member. A list of tags used to categorize the problems is also returned allowing the user to filter the results bytag.
* The user reviews the results and adds several to "My Problems".
* The user now reviews "My Problems" and decides to submit solution abstracts to those he is interested in solving.
* The user structures the solution abstract using Microsoft office (word, excel etc) or using the Rich Text Format (RTF) available in Zogix. If structured in Microsoft office the user copies & pastes the abstract to the Zogix browser.
* The user submits the solution abstract to the problem originator.
* The user still has problem abstracts they have not submitted a solution abstract for. When the deadline approaches for those problems the user will receive a notification of the pending deadline so that he can decide whether or not to submit an solution abstract.
* The user receives notification that a solution abstract has been accepted and is invited to join a Workspace to solve the problem.
* The user accepts the invitation and joins the Workspace. On first entering the Workspace, the user is required to accept the Terms and Conditions (include IF transfer agreement).
* Tools in the Workspace are used by the workspace members to organize the project (Project Dashboard, Task lists and Calendar) and to provide communication (IM, VoIP, Discussion Board) and collaboration capabilities (Whiteboard, Shared Folders, Document Review, Application Sharing).
* The members of the Workspace solve the problem and receive payment from the problem originator.
In a fourth scenario, an individual from an enterprise representing the marketing and new product development function wants solicit product feedback from trusted contacts in the Web Top.
* The user structures an online survey to gauge product feedback using one of the online templates provided by the system. The online template provides a mechanism for the user to structure the survey that may be published to the users Web Top or the Communities of which they are a member.
* The user publishes the online survey to the Web Top. During publication the user adds in the timelines and "tags" the event for other users to locate the form. The user will also provide details of the value of the feedback -this may be monetary or other commercial value.
* The user receives product feedback from individuals in Web Top.
* Each product feedback may be viewed and ranked by other members of the Web Top.
* The user reviews all results and obtains not only the direct feedback of individuals, but further ranking on how valuable that feedback is seen to be.
* The feedback is summarized for the user.
In a fifth scenario an individual from an enterprise representing the marketing or new product development function seeks feedback on a new product prototype and to gauge initial reaction from his trusted contacts in the Web Top.
* The enterprise user creates a base concept using the system web based prototyping tool * The user publishes the base to their private zone inviting their contacts in the Web Top to provide their input. When publishing the event, the user adds the timelines and "tags" the event for other users to locate the prototype. The user will also provide details of the value of the feedback -this may be monetary or other commercial value.
* Each contact of the user in the Web Top can view the base concept and may create a different prototype that is submitted back to the user.
* Each prototype provided by other members may be ranked by other contacts in the Web Top. Each prototype is also tagged, so that users can search for the most popular tags and associated products to these tags.
* Based on these rankings, the enterprise user picks up the top three with people who participated in the project invited to be "Lead customers" for the product.
* Initially the individual user who is also member of an enterprise puts this to all other enterprise users on the system and their friends. This creates a large enough low risk sample of end users.
* A similar exercise can be undertaken by publishing to specific Communities.
* Tools are employed that permit enterprises to analyze the peer ranked prototype.
The system may have some or all of the functionalities listed in the following Tables: Core Functionality The core features listed below in this table may be, in an exemplary embodiment, a piece of software code with a plurality of lines of computer code that may be executed by a processing unit of the enterprise system or by the computing device that executes the application.
