Abstract

An anti-theft system for a fuel dispenser comprising a pre-paid card containing an amount of money and a petrol pump having a card reader, wherein when a user inserts the card into the card reader, the pump will display the amount of money on the card, and will only dispense fuel up to the value of money on the card. The anti-theft meter is located on or inside the petrol pump and communicates with a shut-off valve in order permit the dispensing of fuel or to cease dispensing should the amount of money on the pre-paid card be spent.

Description

Statement Of Inventorship
A simple idea generated from reading about the substantial fuel forecourt losses incurred by petroleum companies.
The idea is based on existing technology but as yet, based on comments received from petrol companies and sestina manufactures see (correspondence 1 A,2B.) Process (I) Customer (A) Parks vehicle next to pump (2) A -proceeds to cashiers office and request magnetic card to the value of fuel required and pays at till.
(3) A -specially adapted card reading meter is connected to the pump. This card is inserted and fuel delivered as normal by pump to the vehicle But only to the value of the card.
(4) Driver puts fuel hose back to pump and drives off.
Benefits Driver not inconvenienced.
Petrol Company receives money prior to filling.
Thousands of pounds saved.

Claims (1)

  1. Claims Anti-theft meter reader for petrol pumps.
    The anti-theft meter reader is located on or inside the pump to communicate with the head of the pump and the shut off valve.
    This is done by inserting a card with the amount of money on it, then the card is inserted into the meter reader which then is sent to the head of the pump the head displays the amount of money that is on the card.
    When the amount of money on the card is used the meter reader communicates to the shut of valve to stop the flow of fuel.
