Abstract

A flood barrier comprising a fibreglass or UPVC panel 1 with a rubber watertight seal 4 around the edge of it to contact with a wall surrounding an opening in a building. Metal strips 2 which may form a U shape are sandwiched within the plastic panel to provide reinforcement of the barrier, the panel may be formed from two separate panels joined together. The barrier may be bolted to the wall. The panels may vary in shape and size according to which type of entrance i.e. door, window, airbrick etc, it is to cover.

Description

bEscDzpiTaN: "PROPtR1Y 6t/APO" This invention relates to protecting
property from f!oodinq.
Properties that have been built in certain areas which are now prone to flooding, causing aU sorts of problems; apart from water damage and not being able to live in the property until it has been repair, there can be insurance and re-sale problems.
To overcome this, present invention proposes that when fitted properly to the outside of the building, and when each entrance, through which water can enter the building such as doors windows, air bricks, etc, is independently covered by the Guard, this will make the building completely watertight, therefore no internal damage being caused. After initi& installation the Guard can be removed and simply put back up as and when required.
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying diagrams.
Figure 1: Shows the front view of the Guard with the metal support and secure holes which will be sandwiched inside the guard Figure 2: Shows the back view of the Guard with the rubber seal which is on the outside of the Guard.
Figure 3: shows the sliced end view with the metal inside, rubber seal outside and slide cover of the Guard.
A Fibreglass or UPVC construction which will have a slight curve and be ribbed, to gwe it its strength, leading into flat ends for secure purposes. With a metal strip (2) running down inside (1) along both sides and the bottom. There are secure holes (3) placed at set points, this will allow the guard to be secured to the property by bofts, giving it equal pressure, and at the same time applying equal pressure to the rubber seal (4) therefore creating a watertight unit.

Claims (3)

CLAIM: Properties that have been built in certain areas and are now or in the future prone to flooding. To overcome this, present invention proposes that when fitted properly to the outside of the building, and when each entrance, through which water can enter the building such as doors windows, air bricks, etc, is independently covered by the Guard, this will make the building completely watertight, therefore preventing any internal damage. Please see Figure 3.
1. a fibreglass or UPVC Guard (1) which will bolt over entrances through which water can enter the building;
2. A Fibregtass or UPVC Guard, according to claim 1, which will have a rubber seal (4), which when bolted to the outside to the building, will make a watertight seal. The size of the rubber seal will vary according to area it is being attached to.
3. A fibreglass or UPVC Guard, according to claim 2 in which metal strips (2) will be sandwiched and running along both side and bottom.
