Abstract

A cuboid shaped cabinet unit 1 made of wood, plastic or metal 1, is freely rotatable about a vertical axis. The cabinet is mounted on a ball-race turntable 2, which is in turn mounted on a base 3. The base has rubber or cork feet 4. Any blank areas of each face of the unit may have cork (5, fig 1) affixed to it for use as notice boards. Each of the four faces of the cabinet may have a recess for books and/or a small cupboard for keys (7, fig 4) or the whole of one side may be used for storage such as spice-jar rack 6 or may have a cupboard with adjustable shelving (9, fig 5). Closure members may cooperate with touch-latch devices (8, fig 4 or 10, fig 5).

Description

ROTATING BOOKCASE and NOTICE BOARD The invention relates to a

four-sided rotating bookcase and notice boards.

It is roughly a cube shaped self-supporting structure mounted on a turn-table which is fixed to a base and may be sited on a worktop or desk as appropriate.

The invention seeks to solve the problem of keeping cookery books, in a kitchen environment, in a tidy and accessible manner. Also it provides a central point in a household where calendars, timetables and reminders are easily consulted.

The object of the invention is to allow easy access to cookery books and the notice boards even if the unit is placed in a corner or close to a wall.

The invention as it is rotated presents four faces each of which has a recess for books and or a cork notice board on the blank vertical faces.

There are several variations of the basic design. One has a key cabinet in one corner another has one side which has a recess for a spice-rack and a third has a cupboard with adjustable shelving which could be used for home medicines. All of these units have recesses for books and cork affixed to some of the blank vertical faces for use as notice boards.

As shown in figure 2, the unit 1, has four sides each of which has a recess for books and a cork notice board adjacent 5.the unit freely rotates on a metal baIl-race 2, which is fixed to a base 3, and is supported on feet 4, which are rubber or cork.

Claims (6)

1. I. A freely rotatable cuboid shaped bookcase fixed to a base which has rubber or cork feet and which has thin layers of cork affixed to some of the vertical blank sides.
2. 2 A unit as in claim 1, but where one corner has a small key cupboard with a touch-latch door.
3. 3 A unit as in claim 1, but where one side has a recess in which is housed a spice-rack; made of wood, plastic or metal.
4. 4 A unit as in claim I but where one side contains a cupboard with magnetic touch-latches and adjustable shelving.
5. A unit as claimed in any proceeding claim which is made from wood, plastic or metal or a combination of these materials.
6. 6 A unit substantially as herein described above and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
