Abstract
The portable drill stand for use with a portable or cordless drill 1 includes an adjustable arm 2 and a lower base 3. The angle at which the arm holds the drill can be altered. The arm includes a V-shaped block 8 to which a complementary wedge 9 on the drill can be fitted. The block may move up and down the arm by use of a rod 10 and a spring 12 thus guiding the movement of the drill. The drill can be operated directly by hand or by using a lever (19, Fig 13).
Description
Portable, Adjustable Angle Drill Stand This invention relates to a
Light Weight Portable, Adjustable Angle Cordless/Electric Drill StanL Electric Drill Stands are very useful in every work-shop, for drilling the precision holes at a desired angle, but only when one can take the work-piece to the Drill Stand, and most importantly if the work-piece fits under the Drill Stand, because of it's limitations due to the obstruction of it's own pillar Drill Stands are very useful, but have a limited function, for example one cannot drill a precision angled hole in the centre of a 6 feet X 8 feet (2 meters X 2 5 meters) board, again because of the pillar My idea is to have a Light Weight Portable Adjustable Angle 1)rill Stand that can be used on every possible work-piece, even if the work-piece needs a precision 45 angle hole on an engine mounting of a yacht at sea. because the Portable Drill Stand will be mobile and not fixed onto an area in a work-shop in fact it will be most appropriate to work on ships or any sea going type of transport The Light Weight Portable Adjustable Angle Drill Stand can be operated by pushing the Electric/Cordless Drill directly by hand 18, or by using the lever 19, A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which, Fig 1. Referring to the drawings the Light Weight Portable Adjustable Angle Drill Stand would be fblly portable if a Cordless Drill is attached The Portable Adjustable Angle Drill Stand consists of the Upper Adjustable Arm 2, and the Lower Base 3, the two major components are held by a Bolt 4, and Fly nut 5. The Cordless/Electric Drill having its' V-Shape Wedge item 9, moulded as part of the Drill item I, The drill case cover, would slide into the V-Shape Slotted Block 8, and secured by a catch, stopper or by a clip 11 or by a similar means. and the universal drill 1 A would be held by using the universal drill clamp 8A The guidance of travelling of the drill up and down, would be onto the Rod 10, and helped by the spring 12, for a flow of use, The Moving Block 8 and 8A, would slide squarely into the Upper Adjustable Arm 2, square slot, for a precision up and down movement without fluctuating side ways.
To drill a hole at an angle the Vertical and the Horizontal Spirit Levels 13, are the key for precision? To hold the Light Weight Portable Adjustable Angie Drill Stand in position, the Handles 6 are part of the set, with the back position handle being permanently installed, while the other handle having two positions to attach to, can be Screwed 7, either to fit a right or left handed person.
In the drawing of Fig 8 & 9, the work-piece is shown as Wood 17, and thus the mountings in this case are shown as Hard Rubber Mountings 14, pending the material surfacc of the work-piece, but they can be replaced by Air-Suckers, or Polarity switch Activated Magnets, (both of which are not shown in drawings) In order to set the drill to a desired Angle arrow 15, one has to unscrew the Fly nut 5, and adjust the Embossed Arrow 15, on the Upper Adjustable Arm 2, and position,(Match) to the Degree Table 16, embossed on the Lower Base 3, The drawings are all made with an Electric Drill, but as already mentioned the Cordless Drill would give a 100% mobility The Portable Adjustable Angle Drill Stand can also be operated in the ordinary way, that is, like a pillar drill stand bolted onto a work-bench, and using the Lever 19, The Cordless/Electric Drill can easily be removed from the Stand and used on its' own The Portable Drill Stand can be operated by pushing the Cordless/Electric Drill directly by Hand 18, or by using the Lever 19, attached to the Upper Adjustable Arm 2, and the leverage point connected to the Sliding Block 8, & 8A

1, The name given for this invention "Portable Adjustable Angle Drill Stand" stands for "Light Weight Portable Adjustable Angle Drill Stand" 2, A Light Weigh! Portable Adjustable Drill Stand that can be used with either a cordless or an electric drill.
3, A portable drill stand, as claimed in, claim 1, without a pillar, using an upper
adjustable arm
4, A portable drill stand, as claimed in, claims I & 2, where the drill outer cover is moulded with a V-shape wedge to fit the V-shape block on the upper adjustable arm of the 5, A Portable Adjustable Angle Drill Stand were the electric or cordless drill is attached onto the stand trough the universal drill clamp.
6, A portable drill stand, as claimed in, claims 1, 2 & 3, where the surface mountings can be inter-changeable to use, pending the surface or material of the work-piece 7, A portable drill stand as claimed in preceding claims, wherein it can also be used as a conventional pillar drill stand too, by being bolted to a work-bench and the lever used.
