Abstract
An exercise machine comprises a frame D constructed from interlocking box sections with stretchy resistance tubes attached to the frame with eye bolts F. The tubes have handles attached to the other ends. A support 3 is attached to the frame, and a bean bag 9 is provided to support the knees. Kneeling on the beanbag and leaning against the support, the user may mimic the movement of paddling a surf board.
Description
Paddle Exercise Machine This invention relates to the mimicking of the
resistance which occurs when paddling in the front crawl position or on a surfboard. Surfing is a sport which requires much paddling stamina to enable said surfer to paddle "outback" beyond breaking waves into position. My machine also enables said surfer to paddle into waves with ease.
To achieve a surfer's stamina my invention proposes to use stretchy resistance tubes attached to a stable frane, this will mimic the motion and resistance which occurs when paddling in the front crawl or on a surfboard.
My machine saves time by allowing exercise in the home and is compact and easy to assemble. It allows maiy land locked surfers to use exact muscles which are used when surfing (swimming will not do this). The chest rest and bean cube enables safe exercise without danger of strain on the back. The metal base is fitted with non-slip tape to stop machine movement throughout exercise.
Detailed Description
An upright length of box section is welded at right angles to a shorter length of section in an upside down I formation (1). At the top a triangular piece of plate is welded, with three holes cut into it (2). Here a chest rest is bolted on (3). On the upright length of box section bolt holes are situated at points (A) and (B) ready for the attachment of diagonal support struts at (A) and the main body of the machine at point (B).
The main body is attached at point (B) to the T section via bolts. The main body consists of a length of box section welded to a very short piece of box section at point (C) which is in turn welded to a flat piece of plate (4).This plate lays horizontal and flat to the floor, while the main body is horizontal to the floor but rests about two inches above it.
At the end of the main body at point (D) a slightly thinner grade of box section (5) slides into the main body and bolts to the frame via holes in the main section and holes in the thinner section.
A series of thin cut plates are arranged in a triangular formation for maximum strength these bolt to section (5) at point (E). Parts (6) and (7) bolt to section (5) at point (E), part (8) bolts to part (6) and (7) at point (F). Also at point (F) resistance tubes are attached via eye bolts and clips.
A beanbag cube (9) is to be situated behind the machine, not being attached it is to be used in conjunction. a Claim
Claims (8)
1. A metal framework of box sectioning which supports the upper body of
the user, on which are attached rubber stretchy resistance tubes.
2. A box section frame comprising the attachment of resistance tubes allowing a simulation of the paddle movement undertaken whilst surfing and swimming.
3. A box section frame comprising resistance tubes attached via eyebolts and clips to the frame and have grasping handles at there terminus.
4. A box section frame which for ease of storage and delivery comprises two parts, one of which slides inside the other and locks solid when bolted.
5. A box section frame which comprises at the far end a triangular arrangement of metal plate strips. These strips are bolted together allowing maximum structural stability and strength when stressed during execution of exercise.
6. A box section frame comprising two diagonal metal plate support struts. These are situated between the upright and horizontal box sections for structural stability.
7. A box section frame behind which a beanbag cube to kneel upon is situated.
8. A box section frame comprising the attachment of a plastic chest rest, allowing comfortable and safe positioning during execution of exercise.
