DESCRIPTION
Sytem and Method of Doll/Jewellery Transformation
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
Thi invention is an integrated system of child's doll and method of integration which are dual function although the invention is not necessarily only related to childhood, in that it is highly confeivable that the dolls will be collectable by adults and that a more expensive version of the doll with more expensive jewllery would be appropriate for the adult market.
In tiis invention, every part of the doll is or becomes a piece of jewllery or a part of a piece ofjewellery and, in some conpeivable implementations of this idea, different pieces of jewllery can be interchanged so that these can be shared across different dolls. A doll can be made up of different parts frolp within the range of dolls.
BACKGROtTND OF THE INVENTION In t?e research I have carried out on both past and present into the types of dolls avaliable to young girls I have found no doll that encompasses the dual function of my invention. The market seems to be dominated by only baby dolls for young chilfiren and fashion accessorized dolls for older children. A doll wh.tph transcends these limited markets has the useful result of alloving younger and older girls to play and communicate about the same artefact. This doll also has the useful educational pu.rose of developing female aesthetic ideas and allowing chilriren and adults to communicate these ideas between each oth!r.
The invention is novel and useful since the availability for this doll to morph easily into wearable child sized pieces ofjewellery is something that young girls would be interested in, because it brixf.gs doll and jewellery together, things young girls like to play with and wear. The other quality which is unique to these dolls is that they are interchangeable. While there are dolls in existence that have interchangeable parts, there is no doll that can be made up of all different head and body parts from within a rnge. Segments can turn into jewellery that can be mixed e.g. in one conceivable implementation of the idea, Jade Jewel's' leg and Ruby Jewel's' leg could come together to make an anklet.
Another useful function of this invention is that young girls could start collecting these dolls and swapping them. It is well known that children's attention span is low and this means that they lose interest in a single artefact (such as a single non-morphable doll) easily. In this invention, the interactive, changeable and dual quality of these dolls will have the useful result of ensuring more than an average interest of time invested into the playing and wearing of the dolls. A useful function of this invention is that it will keep a group of young girls entertained longer that a traditional doll with only pleasing aeslhetics to hold the attention.
In qne conceivable implementation, a doll called Ruby Jewel will be Caucasian with blue eyes. In another conceivable implementation Amber Jewel's face and hands will be mixed ethpicity in colouring and her eyes will be dark green. Jade's face and hands will be cream shade and will have oriental shaped eyes. Sapphire Jewel will be brow-n/black and will have medium brown eyes. The various design possibilities outlined here are not the only conceivable implementations of this invention.
Th dolls can be of various sizes and shapes. In one conceivable imlementation the body of the doll will be shaped in a bow (vertical), the front of the bow face is on the doll's front side, Figtre 1. The back of the bow has a row of buttons, these disuise a fastening for a hair clip and or brooch. This has the use'u1 function of being both doll, single piece of hair jewellery and1 individual jewellery, Figure 5 In nother conceivable implementation the doll's arms both pull out of their sockets and the hands fit into the opposite arm socets by an adjoining means. This forms a circle that then becmes a bangle, Figure 2 In another conceivable implementation the legs come out of the body by pulling the shoes (attached to the feet). There is an adj9tnirig means on each leg socket that makes them fit togther. The legs will be bendable to create a circle. The two shos can move sideways so that the soles are in line to connect together by an adjoining means, Figure 3.
In a1nother conceivable implementation the head pulls out of the body, the hair braids pull up and back, Figure 4. The back of the heap splits vertically from the crown to the nape, to form part of a nck chain made of braids supporting the face, creating a ca9eo like necklace which fastens at the back, Figure 6.
In a1nother conceivable implementation each doll will have a blaqk heart or other symbol on their left upper arm. The heart or a,lternate symbol will state the name of the jewel i.e. Ruby and their second name' -Jewel. It will be the outline of a heart with the name i.e. -Ruby Jewel in black in the middle of the heart.
The usefulness of this element is that it clearly shows the nature of the product and that dolls which utifise this standard are intrchangeab1e.
In another conceivable implementation of thi.s idea, the Iris of the eye will be a classical representation of ajewel in shape whih mirrors the name and overall jewel-type of the doll.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
The object of' the doll invention is to provide a useful and edupative doll for girls and others which is more interactive then the traditional doll. This invention will enhance play and shring thereby developing social skills among girls and will enourage communication between girls and girls and their parnts.
Th further objective of this invention is that it encourages the useful development of imaginative play by providing written tnfQrmation iuferring that the dolls each have peronaJities/characterjstics and strengths unique to them cor9ing from the meaning and attributes of their stone.
A ftrther useful result of the dolls will be that they will encourage understanding of other cultures since they will represent a wide gambit of ethnicity in their colouring and facial features. This will make them more relatable to girls of different cultures.
Further the useful educative result of the dolls will be that they will encourage sturdy yet feminine approaches. Although the dolls are feminine in their decoration, the body shape will be robist and will -in one possible implementation -have androgynous shaped shoes, as a way of portraying a female as both attractive and strong.
Th main useful object is that the doll interests the child in both its forms.
Thi invention is not only of interest to young girls. A more expnsively created system of interchangeable jewellery parts willbe of interest to older collectors of dolls and jewellery.
