Abstract

Centrifugal-action lubricating; lubricant conveyed by mechanical means.-The device of the parent Specification for lubricating wheel hubs, comprising a vane 2 rotating with the wheel and lifting lubricant from a reservoir 1 in the wheel into a pocket 3 in the hub 5, is modified by providing a stationary pipe 11 mounted on the end of the axle 7 and having its open outer end dipsposed closely adjacent to the inner wall of the reservoir, so as to recaive oil clinging to the wall at high speeds and deliver it through an aperture 12 into the pocket 3. The outer end of the pipe is bent so as to face the direction of rotation of the wheel. The pipe is carried by an arm 10 secured by a screw 13 to a cotter pin 9 which passes through the axle end and secures thereon a short sleeve 8.
