Abstract

243,830. Dash, W. F. Sept. 12, 1924. Corner joints and strengthening-pieces; joints between box bottoms and bodies.-The end panels are secured to the main body and lid sections of trunks and the like by means of continuous metallic edgings of quadrantal section having their edges, which are formed with perforations, stepped or shouldered so that the parts of the trunk when attached lie flush with the exposed metal of the edgings. The edgings may be stamped in single pieces or may each comprise vertical members 9 connected to horizontal members 9<a> bv means of separate elbow pieces 13, rivets 14 being the securing means. The parts 7, 8, are secured to the stepped parts 15, 16, by means of rivets, as shown in Fig. 2. The upper edge of the body is shown provided with a cranked protecting strip 20, 20<a>, upon which the edge of the lid seats.
