Abstract

A grinding wheel cover for attachment to an angle grinder is made of sheet metal and has an open side through which a grinding wheel protrudes when the cover is attached to an angle grinder. The cover is attached to angle grinder by fitting the guard support of the angle grinder through a clearance fit hole 4 in the cover and tightening grub screws 3 onto the guard support. The depth of cut if the angle grinder can be adjusted as the part of the cover having the clearance fit hole 4 is pivotably mounted to the rest of the cover and secured thereto by means of a locking screw 5. The cover is provided with a hole 6 for removal of dust and debris by means of a vacuum. The cover is also provided with at least two rolling parts 7 to enable the angle grinder to be moved along a wall during use. Part of the cover may be removed to enable the grinding wheel to be changed.

<p>Field of the invention</p>
<p>This invention is an attachment for angle grinders to collect all the spoil and dust created when removing mortar from walls.</p>
<p>Background of the invention</p>
<p>When using angle grinders to remove mortar from between bricks there is a lot of dust created along with debris thrown out at high speeds, this not only results in much time being spent cleaning around the area after completion but also creates a health risk if the dust is inhaled or if the lumps of mortar thrown out hit the operator or someone within their range, the dust also results in poor visibility around the work area.</p>
<p>Object of the invention The object of this invention is to produce an attachment for an angle grinder that will collect the dust and debris of mortar thrown out from the operation in order to reduce the time required to clean after the job is completed and also reduce the risk of injury during the operation.</p>
<p>Summary of the invention</p>
<p>The invention is an attachment for an angle grinder to collect the dust produced and protect the operator from particles of mortar that may be thrown out comprising of: I. An enclosure attachment for an angle grinder where one side is open' (1) to aUow the grinding wheel to protrude outside of the enclosure perimeter II. The attachment has means for the dust and mortar particles to exit the enclosure by way of a hole in the enclosure supplied with a means to attach a vacuum for collecting the particles (6) Advantages of the invention This invention provides a method of containing most of the dust and debris created whilst removing mortar from walls using an angle grinder.</p>

<p>Detailed description of the drawings</p>
<p>1) An enclosure (1) attachment for an angle grinder where one side is open' to allow the grinding wheel to protrude outside of the enclosure perimeter 2) The attachment has means to attach to the guard support of the angle grinder (4) by way of grub screw (3) 3) The attachment has means for the dust and mortar particles to exit the enclosure by way of a hole in the enclosure supplied with a means to attach a vacuum for collecting the particles (6) 4) The attachment is provided with rollers' (7) to allow the attachment to move along the wall whilst under pressure 5) The guard support of the attachment is able to pivot (2) to allow adjustment of the depth of cut and can be locked in place using a cap head screw (5)</p>

  1. <p>Claims I) An enclosure attachment for an angle grinder where one side
    is open' to allow the grinding wheel to protrude outside of the enclosure perimeter 2) An attachment as claimed in claim one where the top of the enclosure is provided with means to attach to the guard support of the angle grinder 3) An attachment as claimed in claim one where the means for attachment to an angle grinder is by way of a clearance fit hole with grub screws to tighten onto the guard support 4) An attachment as claimed in claim one where the guard support of the attachment can be moved to adjust the depth of cut of the angle grinder 5) An attachment as claimed in claim one where the guard support of the attachment can be moved by way of a pivot 6) An attachment as claimed in claim one where the guard support of the attachment is secured during use by way of a locking screw 7) An attachment as claimed in claim one with means for dust and debris to exit the enclosure by way of a hole in the bottom wall of the enclosure 8) An attachment as claimed in claim one where the hole for the dust and debris to exit is supplied with a means to attach a vacuum for collecting the debris 9) An attachment as claimed in claim one where the means for attaching the vacuum is by way of a tube section 10) An attachment as claimed in claim one which is provided with at least two rolling parts to allow the attachment to move along the wall during use I I) An attachment as claimed in claim one where the enclosure is made from sheet metal 12) An attachment as claimed in claim one where the top plate of the attachment can be removed to change the grinding wheel</p>
