Abstract

A security device for a vehicle, such as a car, caravan or trailer, has an elongate body (1, fig 1) provided with two holes (2, 3, fig 1), through which the device can be bolted to the stud holes of a road wheel hub after removal of two of the existing wheel fixing studs. One end of the body of the device extends beyond the circumference of the wheel when fitted to a wheel hub, thereby restraining rotation of the wheel. Security bolts (5, fig 2) removable by means of a security key (6, fig 2) are used to secure the device to a wheel. A third hole (4, fig 1) may be provided to accommodate the centre of the hub cap.

Description

<p>WHEEL LOCK</p>
<p>This invention relates to a device to secure a caravan, motor-home, car or trailer.</p>
<p>When an owner needs to leave the vehicle or trailer in one position for any period of time a wheel lock can be fitted to prevent wheel movement.</p>
<p>This will greatly reduce the risk of the vehicle or trailer being stolen.</p>
<p>The wheel lock has a multiple designs, to suit common wheel/hub retention bolt arrangements, enabling it to be fitted to a four or five stud wheel design. with various stud pitch circle diameters.</p>
<p>The wheel lock unit contains re-enforcing steel rods that prevent the use of oxy-acetylene torch cutting.</p>
<p>2 existing vehicle studs are removed, the wheel lock fitted and tightened with security bolts: The length of the device disables wheel movement.</p>
<p>Figure 1 -Shows the front view of the wheel lock main body (1) and security device holes (2 & 3) for security bolts.</p>
<p>Figure 1-Shows the side & back views of the main body (1), security device holes (2 & 3) for security bolts & the hub cap clearance hole (4).</p>
<p>Figure 2-Shows the security bolt (5) and security key (6).</p>
<p>Figure 3-Shows the final assembly to a wheel in principle.</p>

  1. <p>CLAIMS</p>
    <p>I. A wheel lock unit comprising of a main body for location to the caravan, motor-home, car or trailer that contains 2 security device holes to enable the wheel lock unit to be bolted to the wheel.</p>
