Endless chain and like carriers. apparatus with. - A chain conveyer or elevator for storing or displaying goods comprises shelves or boxes F pivoted at D<7> upon arms D<8> projecting from vertically arranged chains, the links of which are provided with stops D<5> that permit the chain to bend in the direction necessary for passing around the sprocket wheels C, E, but prevent it from bending in the opposite direction under the weight of the shelves or boxes. The chains are propelled by means of a chain J and a hand-wheel K<2>. To prevent the boxes &c. from swinging when passing around the sprocket wheels, a wheel L rotated by the chains near their upper end is provided with notches L<2> in its periphery and is arranged so that rollers F<1> mounted on the boxes ride in the notches, and at the lower end of the apparatus guideways M are formed to receive the rollers F'.
