Abstract

A children's car seat 4 is convertible into a pushchair (or stroller) with two freely rotating wheels 5 6. Preferably, the wheels are deployed when the handle 1 is pulled away from the main body of the seat. This pulls at least one steel cable 2 which pivots the axle 3 from a stored position (figure 4) to a deployed position (figure 3) bringing the wheels 5 6 in contact with the ground.

Description

1 2429638 The short journey pushchair This invention relates to a device
which allows a child car seat to be used as a short journey pushchair.
The short journey pushchair is not intended to replace the standard pushchair.
As shown in fig 1, The handle I which is constructed of plastic is pulled upwards, attached to the handle 1 aretwosteelcables2 whichareconnectedtoasleelaxle3. Thesteelaxle3 ismountedontothe chassis 4 of the child car seat. The axle 3 rotates through 90 degrees, when the handle I and the cables 2 are pulled upwards this brings the wheeLs 5 which are constructed out of plastic and rubber into contact with the ground.
in fig 2, this shows the handle I in the downwards position, which in turn returns the cables 2 and rotates the axle 3 through 90 degrees so that the wheels 5 fit snuggly along the side of the chassis 4 this enables the short journey pushchair to be used as a standard child car seat.
In fig 3, this shows the location of the handle I when fitted to the chassis 4 it also shows the position of the steel cables 2, the axle 3 and the wheels S when the handle 1 is in the upwards position in fig 4, this shows the handle I in the downwards position, it also shows the position of the cables Z the axle 3 and the wheels 5 have rotated 90 degrees and are in the child car seat position.
In figS, this shows the axle 3 attached to the chassis 4 and the rotation of 90 degrees, it also shows the fitting of the wheels 5 which are held on the metal clip 6.

Claims (6)

  1. Clamis 1. A child car seat unit compiismg attachment for two ground
engaging wheels which rotate freely about an axis, and allow the child seat to be pushed along on a short journey.
  2. 2. A child car seat unit according to claim 1, in which an axle is attached to allow the wheels to rotate freely upon.
  3. 3. A child car seat unit according to claim I in which the steel axle which supports the ground engaging wheels, including at least one steel cable generates rotational movement of the axle.
  4. 4. A child car seat unit according to claim 1 in which the rotational means is provided by a retractable handle.
  5. 5. A child car seat unit according to any of the preceding claims in which the rotational means is adjustable so that the degree of rotational movement can be varied.
  6. 6. Achildcarseatwntaccordingtodaim3inwhichthegroundengagingwbedsisstoredinanc a ground engaging position.
