Abstract
242,140. Fairweather, W., (Singer Manufacturing Co.). March 3, 1925. Switches, quickaction; bases; cont a c t s , specially adapted for mounting in incandescent lamp sockets, comprise two cylindrical insulating sections 4, 5 held together by a bolt 6 and having registering channelways formed in their meeting faces, stationary contacts 30, 31 being mounted in one channelway and a snap action movable contact mechanism being mounted on a bracket 14 mounted in the other channelway. The operating handle 36 and the movable contact-member 18 are both pivoted at 17 to the bracket 14 and a quick action is given by a dead-centre compression spring 26 connected between the contact-member 18 and the end of the handle 36. The movable contact 13 on the member 18 is adapted to bridge the fixed contacts 30, 31, and the contact 30 is made longer and more springy than the contact 31 so as to be engaged first.
