Abstract

The lead 2 for a dog or other animal, is provided with a pouch-like pocket 4 incorporated in the lead and into which the lead 2 may be stored when not in active use. The pouch may be closed by a zip fastener 10.

Description

241 883 1 IMPROVEMENTS IN OR RELATING TO DOG LEADS.

This invention relates to a dog's lead and is particularly concerned with the provision of a pocket or container incorporated in part of the lead and into which the lead may be stored when not in its active use.

The pocket may be secured to the lead and may include a flexible or semirigid handle element and the pocket may comprise two side portions joined on at least one edge portion by a zip or other type of fastene<.> The lead portion may be secured to the pocket on one of its edges and preferably extends for some distance therefrom to terminate as a clip device which can be temporarily attached to the collar of the dog or other pet animal.

There now follows a description of one embodiment of the invention with reference to the accompanying drawing which is a perspective view of a dog lead according to the invention.

A dog lead 2 is attached to a triangular pocket device 4 made of flexible sheet material, of fabric or plastic which has an upper face 6 and a lower face 8 closed around its edges to form the pocket. One such closure is shown as a zip fastener 10 having a tag device 12.

To one face 14 of the triangular pocket is secured a handle 16 and at the extreme end of the lead 2 is secured a clip device 18 for attaching to a ring device on the animal's collar or to a further extension to the lead.

When the lead is no longer needed for its useful purpose, for example, when "walkies" are finished, the clip 18 can be detached from the dog's collar, the pocket opened by sliding the tag device 12 along its raceway, and the lead 2 coiled up and inserted in the pocket 4 which is re-closed by the zip.

Thus the lead may be tidily and compactly put away, into the owner's coat pocket or other receptacle until next required.

Although reference has been made in the above to a dog- lead, it is recognized that other pets, for example cats or rabbits, are sometimes harnessed to a lead and the above may be used in such alternative manner. f l

Claims

1. A lead for a dog or other animal, provided with a pocket incorporated in the lead and into which the lead may be stored when not in active use.

2. A lead as claimed in Claim 1, wherein the pocket is of triangular form. in,

3. A lead as claimed in Claiml1 wherein the pocket comprises flexible sheet material formed with opposite faces closable around edges thereof.

4. A lead as claimed in Claim 3, wherein the edges are closable by releasable fastener means.

5. A lead as claimed in Claim 4, wherein the releasable fastener means I 5 comprises a zip (R.T.M.) fastener.

6. A lead as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 5, provided with a handle secured to said pocket.

7. A lead for a dog or other animal, substantially as hereinbefore described, with reference to the accompanying drawing.

7. A lead as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 6, wherein the extreme end of the lead carries a clip for attachment of the lead to the collar of the animal, or to an extension lead.

8. A lead for a dog or other animal, substantially as hereinbefore described, with reference to the accompanying drawing.

Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows 1. A lead for a dog or other animal, provided with a closable pocket of triangular form incorporated in the lead and into which the lead may be stored when not in active use.

2. A lead as claimed in Claiml or 2, wherein the pocket comprises flexible sheet material formed with opposite faces closable around edges thereof.

3. A lead as claimed in Claim 2, wherein the edges are closable by releasable fastener means.

4. A lead as claimed in Claim 3, wherein the releasable fastener means comprises a zip (R.T.M.) fastener.

5. A lead as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 4, provided with a handle secured to said pocket.

6. A lead as claimed in any one of Claims l to 5, wherein the extreme end of the lead carries a clip for attachment of the lead to the collar of the animal, or to an extension lead.
