Abstract
A plant container incorporating a post so that the plant container can be set at varying heights above ground level. The device has a fixing means to secure the container to the post. The post may have a shaped end to allow for it to be driven into the ground or fitted with a base plate or weighted base unit. It may be constructed as a single element, or made up of a number of pieces which are then joined together. The post may be telescopic. The post may be surmounted by more than one container, or a number of containers may be mounted at different intervals along the post. The containers may incorporate drainage holes which may or may not connect to a hollow post. The post may also be the vehicle for delivery of water through an irrigation system. The post and container may be of varying sizes, varying shapes, and made of various materials.
Description
24 1 8586 Post-mounted plant containers.
Technical field. This invention relates to plant containers mounted on posts.
Background. Most flower containers are made to rest on the ground. It is possible to acquire stands which usually have several legs and a tray or framework at the top to hold the container. However, no containers incorporate systems for positioning them and varying heights above the ground This limits the options when displaying plants above ground level.
By providing a system which permits the Installation of any number containers at differing heights and close together, space Is maximised, a new height dimension is introduced and, as an additional advantage, elderly or infirm people can maintain the containers more easily as no bending is required.
Essential technical The essence of the invention resides in incorporating a system of posts features Into the bases of plant containers thereby permitting the positioning of the plant containers at varying heights above the ground. The posts can be driven into the ground or secured to the ground by means of a foot plate or weighted base.
Hollow posts can also be the vehicle by which watems drained from the containers or for delivery of water for irrigation.
The entire device can also be constructed as a single element.
In one instance, containers of differing shapes and depths have fixings incorporated into the base to facilitate the attachment of a post or sections of posts which fit together to create different lengths.
In another case the post has a shaped top which then attaches to the base of the container to hold it In place. !
Example A typical embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of an example with reference to the accompanying drawings in vvhKh.

Figure 6 shows a post with a shaped top designed to fit containers Figure 7 shads a var'on desigrd to deliver water to the container via the post.
The plant container of variable shape is mounted on a post of indeterminate length in order to position it above the ground.
The plant container and the post are either constructed as a single elernen2 or constructed using a number of pieces which are then joined together.
Joining containers and posts separately allo us different combination of shapes and height to be created.
Where the post 6 IION and there a hod in the base of the container the two element - when joined together provide a drainage system for the contents of the container.

3a shows a typical base plate for fixing the post-pot when placed on an area where it is not possible to drive the post into the ground. This base plate can also be weighted to stablise the device.
Figure 4. A typical variation on the number of posts employed.
4a the shape of the container is rectangular.
4b the device employs two posts.
Figure 5. A typical post of varying length.
5a sections of post are joined together to make a single post.
Figure 6. Detachable container 6a post has a top which is constructed to fit detachable containers.
Figure 7. Irrigation system 7a the container has a double shell so that water can be delivered to the void where it trickles through into the body of the container to moisten the earth.
7b there is a valve at the top of the post which allows water to pass upwards but not back down.
7c the post is fed by an irrigation system.
