Abstract

A rotary toothbrush in which a brush head with a series of radial bristles is made to rotate about its longitudinal axis. Powered with a rechargeable battery, it has a means of selectively reversing the direction of rotation. It also has interchangeable brush heads with differing types of heads serving different cleaning tasks. The toothbrush may have a stand which supports the toothbrush and the brush heads in a vertical position. The base may also serve as a charging unit.

General description of the
Rotary Toothbrush The product being considered as conceived by Graham Neale, is the Rotary Toothbrush. The concept calls for the manufacture and distribution of a specially designed toothbrush that would offer improved dental hygiene.
To accomplish this, the Rotary Toothbrush would be configured as shown on the accompanying illustration. The device would be fabricated in essentially the same manner as a conventional battery powered toothbrush consisting of a plastic body with an array of bristles affixed to the head. However, the significant point of differentiation for this toothbrush would be that the bristles would spin in a rotating action when the motor is engaged. This, then would provide the user with better contact between the bristles and the surface of his or her teeth yet without having to manually move the brush up or down to execute the dental hygiene function. An on/off switch would be positioned along the handle and the motor would be driven by rechargeable batteries. There would also be a second switch which would change the relation of the brush head.
The device would offer a selection of interchangeable brush head which would serve different cleaning tasks. This would include brushes of varying length as well as soft sponge-like brush that could be used for polishing the teeth. The components would all be housed in an accompanying case.

  1. Claims 1.The Rotary Toothbrush (RTB) comes complete with handle and
    charger/base. In the base would be two spare brush heads positioned vertically.
  2. 2. The RTB comes complete with handle and Charger/base. In the base would be two brush heads and a polishing head positioned vertically.
  3. 3. The RTB comes complete with handle and charger/base. With this base there would be three positions for spare heads only, the heads come in a multi head kit where there are a selection of heads and polishing heads. This would be the deluxe model.
  4. 4. There would also be a Multi head kit for sale as a separate item. The head would be available for personal choice.
