Stud-and-socket fastenings.-The body part of a two-part fastener of the kind in which the grooved or shouldered head of a shank member e, Fig. 1, is held between a pair of parallel members of a spring catch concealed in the other and body part of the fastener, and is released by turning a finger-piece having a pair of abutments m projecting between the parallel spring members, is provided with four stops h, l, as shown in Fig. 3, to prevent rotation and distortion of the spring catch. The finger-piece may be formed separately from and project above the body part as in Figs. 1 and 9, or it may be formed with one of the elements of the body part as in Figs. 13 and 17. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the body part comprises two elements a, b; the element b is attached to the material d to be fastened, and the element a is attached to the element b to form an annulus in which the spring members c are contained. The fingerpiece is formed in two parts j, k connected together by expanding a soft metal plug n inside the part k, which latter part is rotatably mounted in the element a and carries two projections m fitting between the spring members c. The form shown in Fig. 9 is similar except that the part j of the finger-piece is connected to the part k by pressing a stud p around the edges of a square hole in the part k, and that the part k is grooved at o to take the springs c. In the form shown in Fig. 13, the element a of the base part is rotatably mounted on the element b and carries the projections m for opening the spring members c, while in the construction shown in Fig. 17, the attaching means g for the body part is provided on the outer or upper side of the body part and the finger-piece, which is made in two pieces j, k, is arranged to rotate in the element a.
