CONTAINER COVER AND METHOD OF EJECTING SAME r
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to container covers and more particularly to an improved container cover and a method of ejecting the same in a manufacturing process.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Plastic containers are widely used nowadays. Conventionally, a container except its cover is formed integrally in one molding, the cover 10, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, comprises a rectangular flat 101 conformed to the shape of an opening of a container, two large flaps 102 extended from two first opposite sides, and two small flaps 102 extended from two second opposite sides. The large flap 102 comprises two bottom latches 103 and the small flap 102 comprises a bottom latch 103. Each latch 103 is adapted to fasten at an upper peripheral hook of the container for securing the container and the cover 10 together. As shown in FIG. 2, a ram 301 and a plurality of bars 302 are required to outwardly push the center of the cover 10 and the flaps 102 respectively so as to remove the cover 10 from the mold in an ejecting step of the manufacturing process.
However, the prior art suffered from a disadvantage. For example, the provision of bars 302 in the ejecting step may complicate the manufacturing process and thus increase the manufacturing cost. Thus, the need for improvement still exists.
It is an object of the present invention to provide an improved form of container cover.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
According to the present invention there is provided a cover releasably mounted on an opening of a container, the container having a plurality of peripheral hooks, the cover comprising a flat portion conformed to the shape of the opening of the container; a plurality of flaps each extending from the flat portion; a plurality of slits formed on the flaps; and a plurality of latches each extending downwardly from an elongated side of the associated slit; wherein the flaps are adapted to pivot toward the hooks and the latches are adapted to secure to the hooks by snapping thereafter.
By utilizing the present invention, the ejecting process is made simple, resulting in a reduction in the manufacturing cost.
In one aspect of the present invention, the flat portion is rectangular.
It is another object of the present invention to provide an improved method of ejecting a container cover from a mold in a manufacturing process, the method comprising moving a ram to outwardly push a center of the cover.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
FIG. 1 is a top plan view of a conventional container cover; FIG. 2 is a schematic sectional view illustrating an ejecting step in manufacturing the cover shown in FIG. 1; FIG. 3 is a top plan view of a container cover according to the invention; FIG. 4 is a schematic sectional view illustrating an ejecting step in manufacturing the cover shown in FIG. 3; and FIG. 5 is a sectional view of a container having the cover of FIG. 3 mounted and fastened thereon.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
Referring to FIG. 3, there is shown a container cover 1 constructed in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the invention comprising a rectangular flat conformed to the shape of an opening of a container, two large flaps 11 extended from two first opposite sides, and two small flaps 11 extended from two second opposite sides. The large flap 11 comprises two spaced slits 13 and two bottom latches 12 each extended downwardly from the elongated side of the slit 13. The small flap 102 comprises a slit 13 and a bottom latch 12 extended downwardly from the elongated side of the slit 13.
Referring to FIG. 4, only a ram 31 is required to outwardly push the center of the cover 1 so as to remove the cover 1 and four flaps 11 including the latches 12 from a mold in an ejecting step of the manufacturing process. In view of the above, it is a simple process, resulting in a reduction in the manufacturing cost.
Referring to FIG. 5, the cover 1 is put on an opening of a container 2 with the flaps 11 being pivoted downwardly toward peripheral hooks 21 of the container 2 such that the latches 12 may be secured to the hooks 21 by snapping. Note that the slits 13 can provide an elastic deformation in the above snapping step such that fastening or unfastening of the hooks 21 and the latches 12 can be made easy.
