Abstract

A waste bin consisting of a tapered conic section, without an enclosed bottom formed by folding a sheet into a conical configuration which is detachably fastened together by studs or hook and eyeholes 3 that allow the unit to be cleaned in its flat form. Preferably the bin supports a bag or liner that is secured in place by virtue of a collar that slips over the top of the bin that also completely conceals the bag or liner. The collar may have an integrated lid with a flap opening and be constructed from a single flat sheet 2. To remove the bag or liner the collar is removed and the bin lifted, the angled sides of the bin facilitating the removal of a full bag or liner. For outdoor use the bin may have tabs with eyelets located on the base of the bin that allow tent pegs to be driven through into the ground. The bin may be made from paper, card material, durable plastic or steel.

Description

24 1 5603 The Bonza Disposable Waste Bin Applicant- Nick Keats Dated 1
July 2004 Note This description is to be read in conjunction with drawings numbers 1,2 and 3, which summarise the main design components and general construction of the bin. Note that the sizes illustrated are to support the general concept and may be varied to suit the required end usage.
1.1 Summary Concept
1.2 The design is for a waste bin constructed from a single sheet material, which forms a conic section. The material may be either of paper/card construction or from more durable plastic material/metal for semi-permanent domestic usage.
1.3 The bin has no base so the standard bin bag sits on the floor within the conic section. The top of the bin bag is secured in place by virtue of a collar, which conceals the bag completely. The collar has in integrated lid flap (see drawing).
1.4 The cone may be opened by unhooking the studs along the joint. The whole unit may be easily cleaned inside and out. The conic shape means that the bag cannot cling to the sides of the bin (as found in most parallel sided bins*). To remove the bag, simply remove the collar and lift the whole bin leaving the bag on the floor.
HA common misconception is that it is the inability for air to be released from under a full bag that prevents a bag being removed from a common parallel-sided bin. In fact it is mostly (but not wholly) the pressure of food on the sides that wedges the bag in the bin.
2.0 Construction 2.1 Base 2.1.2 the base is formed from a single sheet of material shaped into a web forming a denuded conic section. The sheet material can be either card material (used in applications where a cheap disposable bin is required i.e. pop concerts or venues).
The card may be created with artwork for advertising applications.
2.1.3 the base unit can also be constructed from a more durable plastic material for domestic and semi permanent applications. Steel may also be used.
2.1.4 the means of fixing the cone together is variable but the use of either plastic press-studs or hook and eyeholes are envisaged. This element is not unique and does not form part of the patentable element.
2.2 Cone 2.2.1 the cone section is manufactured from a web similar to the base section and constructed from various materials (see above). The lid forms part of the collar arrangement (see attached drawings ret 1 and 3) 2.2.2 various stylised collars are envisaged with the thought that they can be customised to suite a variety of marketing applications.
2.3 Lid 2.3.1 Currently the lid is envisaged to be connected to the Collar, other custom lids are considered such as a true cone or cap. These have not been visualised, as they are not considered to be part of the core patent.
2.4 Optional Anchorage 2.4.1 For outdoor applications the bin can be supplemented by the addition of a series of Tabs" located on the base with eyelets for driving tent pegs through into the ground (to prevent bin blowing over in the wind) Drawing No: 1/3 Stud fastenings to rear of lid section and base section.
