Abstract

An oven guard for use on the front rail of an oven shelf to prevent a user from burning his or her hands when accessing items being heated or cooked in the oven, comprises a tube 1 cut along its length to permit clipping of the tube onto the front rail. The cut edges of the tube form a zigzag pattern 2 in order for the tube to be used with varying sizes of shelf railing. The tube is constructed of a heat resistant material such as silicone rubber. The external shape of the oven guard is formed by a series of parallel ridges to ensure a low point of surface contact when touched.

Description.
Oven guards.
The invention is designed for use on the front rails of oven shelves to prevent the user from burns to the hands and arms from the front rails when accesing items being cooked / heated.
The invention consists of a tube 1. open along one edge to permit clipping onto the front edges of the rails of oven shelves.
The open edge of the tube 1. is cut in a zig zag pattern 2. so that even with the varying size of oven rails it will still fit and interlock by the nature of the zig zag pattern.
The material which the invention is to be constructed from is to be of a suitable heat resisting nature, such as silicone rubber or plastic, the material also being suitable for use in a cooking enviroment.
The external shape of the tube 1. will throughout its length have a series of parralell pointed ridges 3. These ridges having a low point of surface contact, coupled with the heat resisting nature of the material will prevent the type of burns normally associated with accessing ovens. 2.

Claims (3)

  1. Claims.
    An oven guard consists of a tube 1. open along one edge to permit clipping onto the front edges of the rails of oven shelves.
    The open edge of the tube I. is cut in a zig zag pattern
  2. 2. so that even with the varying size of oven rails it will still fit and interlock by the nature of the zig zag pattern.
    The material which the invention is to be constructed from is to be of a suitable heat resisting nature such as silicone rubber or plastic the material also being suitable for use In a cooking envroment.
    The external shape of the tube 1 twill throughout its length have a series of parallel pointed ridges
