Abstract

A bank, ID or credit card 1 which has a facsimile of a finger or thumb print on it. Preferably the card is conventional in material and form and has a shaped space 2 for retaining a finger or thumb print. The finger or thumb print may be machine readable. The card 1 may be verified when placed in a machine by the user placing their finger or thumb on the screen for comparison with the facsimile image. The image of the finger or thumb print may also be holographic. The card may also be used to gain entry to vehicles or buildings. Also claimed is a machine capable of reading the users finger or thumb print and comparing it to the finger or thumb print on the card.

IDENTITY AND SECURITY CARDS.

THE FIELD OF THIS INVENTION

As the ever spreading use of credit cards,bank cards and identity cards becomes common world wide and in turn fraud using these cards also increasingly common the need for positive and accurate identification becomes even more important. To this end the invention described below is aimed There is now described the preferred embodiment of the invention with reference to the accompanying drawing.

With reference to the drawing in FIGURE (1) 1 is the bank or credit or identification card ( hereafter knows as the I D card) this card is of a standard size form and material the reverse of the card is of standard form and the details are as most common bank credit and ID cards The illustration 1 is of the front face of the card though the security device herein described could just as easily fit on the underside if it was required to. 2 is the security device this is a pad it is shown square but oblong, round,oval regular or irregular shape or shapes will work equally as well.

The pad consists of a holographic or similar machine readable finger print image. The card scanning equipment will have a slide back panel that is operated by the cards insertion and will reveal a finger print scanning device and a pin number key pad.

Thus it can be seen that the valid card holder could approach a machine that is access secured insert there card and when the slide back panel opened press his or her thumb or finger on the scanning pad and the machine would compare there finger print with the one on the card. the entering of a pin number would complete the operation.

The system combined with suitable equipment would be of equal use to stores and shops. Allso to stop benefit fraud and also as a no key entry system for security motor vehicles ie Securicor military or police and other such vehicles. And also for security locks for buildings.

The identification equipment it self will be part of a separate patent application.

Claims

(1) A bank card a ID card or a credit card that has a facsimile of a finger or thumb print on it (2) A bank card a ID card or a credit card that has a square oval round regular or irregular shaped space for a thumb or finger print.

(3) A bank card a ID card or a credit card according to claims 1 or 2 that has a space for a finger or thumb print and is in every other way in type of material and form as a conventional credit bank or ID card.

(4) A bank card a ID card or a credit card according to any of claims 1 to 3 that has on it the shaped space as claimed in claims 1 to 3 capable of retaining a thumb print as in claim 1.

(5) A bank card a ID card or a credit card according to claims 2 to 4 that carries the finger or thumb print image according to claim 1 the image being capable or being machine read.

(6) A bank card a ID card or a credit card that when placed in to a machine devised for the function of reading the thumb or finger print on the card and can identify the thumb or finger print.

(7) The machine according to claim 6 will have a screen to read the detail of the users thumb or finger placed upon it.

(8) A bank card a ID card or a credit card that when placed in a machine according to claim 6 the machine having a screen upon which the card holder can place there finger or thumb according to claim 7 upon a screen within the machine and the machine can read the thumb or finger print from the screen according to claims 1 to 5 and read the thumb or finger print image on the card according to claims 2 to 4.

(9) A bank card a ID card or a credit card that carries the thumb or finger print of the rightful owner according to claim 1 to 4 that can be read by a machine according to claims 5 to 6 and compared to the rightful owners thumb or finger placed upon the screen according to claim 7 to 8 and compare the two images.

(10) A bank card a ID card or a credit card according to claims 1to 4 that carries a thumb or finger print image and when placed in a machine designed to read the image according to claims 7 to 9 is compared to the rightful owners thumb or finger print image read by the screen.

(11) A machine that according to claims 6 to 10 can read the finger print upon a bank card a ID card or a credit card and according to claims 8 to 10 can read the thumb or finger print and according to claim 9 to 10 compare the two images will be in all forms and technical description part of a separate patent application.

(12) A bank card a ID card or a credit card that is as drawn and described within the form and content of this patent.
