Abstract

241,034. Herrmann, J. Nov. 12, 1924. Blocks, building, special shapes of. - Curved concrete blocks for building reinforced chimneys are formed with unequal recesses at their ends, one recess being deep enough to allow the bricks to be laid in normal bond and yet provide a continuous channel for the reinforcing members, while the other recess is shallow and provides for a zig-zag formation of the filling core of concrete which completes the structure. As illustrated, the blocks a are provided with deep recesses b which house the iron reinforcing members d entirely, and with the shallow recesses c. The blocks may also be provided with recesses in the top and bottom to receive annular reinforcing members and are turned over end for end in successive courses to bring the deeper recesses adjacent to one another to form the continuous vertical channels.
