Abstract
A hammock or the like piece of furniture that is stuffed with cushioning material and can be used indoors and outdoors. In one embodiment the piece of furniture is filled with polystyrene beans and suspended from a ceiling by four corners and can be used instead of a traditional sofa.
Description
"Le Beanock" The invention came about from having made a 2mtr square
beanbag/floor cushion for my children, only to i[;nd my two black Labradors using it as a bed - my only solution was to hang it from the ceiling via eyelets and ropes/chains.
The problem my invention solves is that: If one gets into a normal hammock - being somewhat unstable, one can often find oneself either back on the floor the other side or somewhat wrapped in it; with a beanbag - one can either end up with ones bottom on the floor after a period of lounging or being completely eaten up by it - Le Beanock being suspended from 4 anchor points (instead of two like a hammock) provides a stable "platform" of beads which then moulds to ones body and ones bottom never touches the floor and one is not eaten up by it.
It can hold two people very comfortably and safely - the hooks from which it is suspended are called swing hooks - and they screw straight into the ceiling joists.
It is made from marine quality fabric which does not tear, rip or break the thread used is marine sail quality and therefore does not break, the corners are reinforced with sail cloth and stainless steel marine o-rings are used - the chains/ropes that are used are also marine quality. The polystyrene beans used are fire-retardant. It consists of an inner bean bag and an outer cover. The outer cover is washable and can easily be removed and put in a normal washing machine.
Le Beanock can be made smaller i.e. for ones cat to put over a radiator or rectangular large or small.
The idea is also revolutionist the 3 piece suite and take it literally skyward and into the 21S' century, i.e. 3 Beanocks in a room instead of a 3 piece suite- No more having to move it to vacuum underneath and no more loosing ones belongings down the back of the sofa.
It can also be used indoors and outdoors. The large one shown has been in use in our house for over 2 years.
The ropes/chains can also be heightened at the two corners at the back to resemble an aerial sofa.
As you can see from the diagrams and photographs Le Beanock is simplicity itself.
