Abstract

A pair of knee pads 1 for a baby includes a padded area with a non-slip surface attached to an elasticated material 4 that holds the padded area to the knee of the wearer. The knee pads are worn by toddlers/babies to held protect their knees and to provide grip when crawling on a hard floor. Preferably the padded area is made from foam and the non-slip surface is made from rubber grips 2. The padded area may be surrounded by elasticated material 4 that wraps around the knee of the wearer, with an open area behind the knee 5 for added comfort.

Description

KNEE PADS
The invention relates to knee pads for babies they will include a padded knee with grips and some sort of elasticated material around the back of the knee area to help a baby crawl.
Laminated flooring and other slippery surfaces are a huge disadvantage for babies learning to crawl. Even the ones who do crawl may find it hard on their knees and very often awkward when wearing clothing which can be essential on cold hard floors, which most modern houses now have. The knee pads are to help grip the floors.
The object of this invention is to help babies to crawl on hard flooring without sliding around and not to be expected to stay on the likes of crawl mats, as this is impossible for babies who like to explore.
The essential features of this invention are soft easily applied Masticated pads with rubber (of a sort) grips on the padded area allowing the babies knees to grip better. The soft pads are to help protect their knees from hard flooring.
Preferably the oval pad consisting of foam and some sort of rubber for grips will be attached to elasticated material (designed for comfort, ease and control) around the actual knee pad and continuing round behind the knee, therefore the pads can be easily and quickly adjusted to suit the babies needs, as all babies do not crawl the same way.
Figure 1: Shows side view of whole product being worn.
Figure 2: Shows only the padded section for the knee illustrating the idea of grips on the pads.
Figure 3: Shows the whole front view with soft elasticated material around pads.
Figure 4: Illustrates the elastic around the back of the knee As shown in Figure 1, the babies knee pad 1 with rubber grips 2 arranged evenly over the whole pad, using stitching to make the diamond shapes in the padding 3, with the use of an elasticated material around the knee pad 4 continuing round behind the knee as numbered 5.
Figure 2 shows only the oval padded section 1 of the product which is slightly padded for comfort on cold hard flooring, sewn into diamond shapes 3 to ensure padding inside pad does not move around and to allow grips 2 to be evenly spaced over the whole area therefore offering more gripping power where ever baby needs it.
As shown in Figure 3, Masticated material 4 all around the edge of the pad 1 to ensure that during crawling the pad 1 hugs the knee adequately.
Figure 4 shows the elastic going around the back of the knee 5 so that the product is easily taken off and put on. It is also designed with babies comfort in mind, a gap 6 in the material is used with the intention that there isn't too much material gathering behind the knee.
