A toenail clipping aid in the form of a mould with a base plate having a raised and curved centrepiece to lift a toe proud of its adjoining toes to allow for easy cutting of the nails.

TOENAIL CLIPPING AID
This invention relates to an aid for toenail clipping in the form of a mould to elevate a toe so that the nail may be clipped with one hand.This is necessary for arthritic people or those with limited movement.
When people with limited movement try to clip their toenails, even with long handled scissors, they may only be able to reach their toes with one hand. Normally, people use both hands to clip their toenails. One hand is used to hold the clippers; the other hand is needed to raise the toenail proud of the other toes otherwise the clippers will nick the flesh of the adjacent toe.
The object of the invention is to enable toenails to be clipped easily with one hand.
Accordingly, this invention provides a mould which has a base with a raised piece in the centre.The mould is placed under the toes, providing stability for clipping the nails, with the raised centrepiece under the toenail to be clipped which is then proud of the other toes.This avoids nicking the flesh of an adjacent toe.
Preferably the mould is made of plastic materials, but wood, or metal or a combination of any of these materials is possible.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows the mould on its own.
Figure 2 shows the side view of the mould with a toenail ready to be cut.
Figure 3 shows the top view of the mould with a toenail being cut.
As shown in Figure 1, the mould has a raised piece in the centre for a toe to rest over it, and a base for the other toes to rest on.
As shown in Figure 2, the raised part of the mould is curved to follow the shape of a toe seen resting on it.The raised toe comfortably curves over the raised part of the mould for the nail to be clipped.
As shown in Figure 3, the raised part of the mould is seen placed under the second toe to raise it so that only one hand is needed for clipping and the other toes are holding down the mould.The clippers are well clear of the adjacent toes and all toes have plenty of room to spread.
Claims (4)
1 A toenail clipping aid in the form of a mould with a base plate having a raised and curved centrepiece to lift proud a toe.
2 A clipping aid mould, as claimed in Claim 1, which provides a base plate for stability so that the toenails not being clipped may rest either side of the centrepiece.
3 A clipping aid mould, as claimed in Claim I or 2, which is designed with a raised centrepiece, which raises one toe from the other toes when all toes are placed over it.
4 A clipping aid mould as claimed in Claim 2 or 3, which has a curved centrepiece, which allows the toenail being clipped to naturally curve over and rest on it.
A clipping aid mould as claimed in any previous claim, which is made from plastics material, or metal, or wood, or a combination of these materials.
