An end plug for retaining the hinge bar 55 of a lid 49 of a waste container comprises an annular member 12 insertable in a knuckle 50 of the lid, and a substantially cylindrical drive member 14 forcibly insertable in the annular member 12 for expanding the annular member in the knuckle.
